Tira's Contract and blocking...

By Guest, in UFS Rules Q & A

Just wondering if Tira's Contract ability to pull anything out of the momentum to block still has to follow the resource symbol rule... ex I play a block with earth, life, void. then play Tiras ability for a 2nd attack and getting ready to block it, does it have to match still? or will it just go through? and I guess reversals have to match the symbol as well then? if i play one after tiras contract and it doesnt match, etc. thanks in advance

you do have to match the symbol.

Whenever a card effect tells you to "play [a card]", then you still have to be legally able to play that card, including resource restriction.

When you're playing a card from your hand you always have to follow resource restriction (unless a card explicitly tells you otherwise, which I think was only on one of the STG staff cards). Reversals always have to chain.

But you do not have to make a control check. So a 100spd hilde attack is no problem with LotM + Tira's

that is if i get the right blocking areas! lol, but problem is i try to use rejection before it... and the symbols dont match so i guess ill have to take rejection out

Dont block an attack that you rejected :P

but yeah thats the problem with off-symbol rejection....if you face multiple attacks you can't block. Not sure who/what you are playing but if you can get rejection out of your cardpool that helps. Like hybrid style :)

tir'a contract states that you have to follow all normal restrictions which includes symbol matching.

Just enhance the attack with headstrong.

Headstrong is a response, not an Enhance. It won't work with Tira's. Tira's says you only try to play the block if it could normally be played, so you never get to the point where you may attempt the block to respond with Headstrong.

Oops, your right. I guess I should have reread the card first.

However, I don't see why you couldn't react w/ Headstrong then Tira's. They both respond to the same trigger.

Wrong. Headstrong is "Before you attempt to block your opponent's attack," and Tira's is "Before the block step of your opponent's attack,".

Er what? What happens between choosing whether or not to block, and starting the block step. As far as I have read the rules there is no 8.3.2.0. Maybe I missed it, but if I did that's because it wasn't printed in the rules.
