It's a Gand!

By Budgernaut, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

It's a Gand! It's a Gand! It looks like the top skirmish mission card of the IG-88 expansion has the artwork of a Gand on it. I love Gands.

I can't wait to see if all the Empire Strikes Back bounty hunters will get their own miniatures.

I gotta assume they will. They are all as well known as IG88. They all have names and backstories.

Starting with IG just shows they are holding back with some like Boba. So I have a good feeling that you will see Zuck eventually.

Yeah, I assume they are the top priority for Scum. Besides, seem to have plenty of artwork for them in the LCG.

I too love Gands Budgernaut! Zuckuss was always one of my favorite toys as a kid, and later Gand was the race I would always choose in role play. So bummed we never see Gand playable races in the mmo games like galaxies or tor. Hopefully Zuckuss and 4-LOM will have their own villian pack.

Gand's are just big booger bugs. :P

But I love the bounty hunters. Hope they all show up.

If they're all showing up in X-Wing then you can bet they will for this game.

Well, I am an entomologist, so I am kinda partial to bugs -- boogers or not.

I'm just waiting to see them launch a Greedo Villains Pack. I'd be all over that one! This is a must have FFG.

Unfortuntately greedo is dead during this time frame. Unless they release a sort of prequel to this based around the rebels stuff and new hope, then we could get a greedo.

And he did NOT shoot first!

Han shot first, that was first and will always be the truth lol. Special edition had some cool ccg but changing han from a cold bad @$$ smuggler who shot first knowing greedo was about to gank him, into a greedo being a bad shot at point blank range was a terrible idea. Almost as bad as having han step on Jabbas tail, instead of reshooting that 5 second frame or creating jar jar binks. :P

First, I think having Han step on Jabba's tail was rather clever.

Second, I totally agree about Han shooting first. I always saw the act of shooting Greedo as setting the base line for Han. If Han is to grow from a morally gray criminal to a Rebel general, he needs to show some character progression. You need to show him as sort of a bad guy to emphasize how good he has become. That's why I'm glad FFG has put different abilities on Han throughout their games that represent this idea of Han shooting first. (For example, Han dealing 1 point of damage upon being declared as attacker or defender -- before strikes can resolve -- in the LCG.) It may not be Lucas' final iteration of Han, but I find it much truer to his character.

The Han/Jabba's tail scene was filmed originally, cut, and then brought back for the special edition. Due to some changes with characters (Hutts were not originally giant slugs), the scene got a little odd, but I don't mind it.

The greedo scene was bad though. And it's been edited a couple times now.

Original (and best) version is Han shooting first. He knew what was going to happen, he took the initiative, and he's awesome because of that. It builds his character.

First edit shows Greedo shooting first, missing, but Han does some sort of little juke that looks odd and out of place.

The 2nd edit is even worse though. In an effort to resolve the complaints over the edit, they make it so Greedo's shoots first, and would have hit Han...but Han's head and neck move very quickly to dodge the attack in one of the most awkward movements I've ever seen on film. So not only does it look goofy, it makes no sense as you wouldn't be able to dodge an attack like that from that distance.

I sure hope Disney re-issues the original theatrical cuts on DVD/BluRay.

This was the original look of Jabba, and as the scene unfolds Han walks behind him, which with Jabba's "new" look, wouldn't fly without some tweaking (and a bit of humor).

Yeah i know that was the original guy and he was cut into a cgi hutt. What i was saying was it was corny how han steps on his tail, Jabba makes this dumb expression and doesnt have Boba shoot Han on the spot lol. I just think they could have done a better job with a cut to jabbas or hans face or even a cut of the hunters standing around as han voice over continues.

But dont get me started on the long list of scenes I would have shot differently, (most are prequel scenes lol)

The CGI Jabbas were all pretty bad, but that one was better than some. The size seems off also. He seems a lot smaller there.

Han is a badass, and Jabba knows it. Han just killed one of Jabba's goons. And Han is talking about having a way to get him his money back. Jabba values the cash enough to let Han get away with this slight. He's his best smuggler after all.

I could have done without any of the CGI edits, but that was one of the least offensive.

I initially thought it was quite a clever way to deal with the incompatibility of the scene with Jabba as he is presented later in the trilogy. However, since I have just become very aware of how someone like Jabba just would not let Han get away with something like that. Many of these kind of figures position derives from respect and fear, which Han is undermining by walking on his tail and getting away with it. Jabba could not stand for that, particularly seeing as he already been a little more flexible by negotiating away the contract on his head (particularly when the contract doesn't make monetary sense, but is purely based on showing what happens when you cross Jabba).

Changing a shot so that you just hear Han's voice over would have been a better choice in the long run.

Just looked up the original scene... find it amusing that Jabba (when he was played as a fat man) is very Irish in the original...

That irish Hutt whiskey is the best! Maybe Jabba was just too drunk in that scene to care if han stepped on his tail lol
