Double-Deci workable?

By ShrineDawg, in X-Wing

Captain Oicunn — Ruthlessness, Mara Jade, Rebel Captiv

Commander Kenkirk — Veteran Instincts, Ysanne Isard

Oicunn does damage to any ship he's touching after he executes his maneuver. Thinking about this, any ship(s) that bumps into him before he moves (assuming he also bumps and doesn't move) will take damage, right?. Mara stresses everybody within R1, and Rebel Captive gives a stress to the 1st ship to attack him per round. Ruthlessness does 1 damage to a ship within R1 of the target. So, hopefully he creates a mass of stressed ships in the middle.

Kenkick does the bit where, after he has no shields and one damage, his agility increases by one. Isaard triggers on the same status, but provides a free evade action. With this Imperial psuedo-C3PO, Kenkirk should be reasonably durable.

So, Oicunn drives into the masses of the enemy, ramming and providing stress, plus doing an extra damage to nearby ships, while Kenkirk goes around the outside (at PS8), plinking at already damaged ships.

Since both have turrets, I am not terribly worried about phantoms, and Oicunn + MJ + Ruthlessness seems perfect counter to swarms of any kind. Ruthlessness is also somewhat of a counter to Biggs, since damage will spread to his neighbors.

Thoughts?

Double Decimators is definitely going to be a fun list to play. I'm not too sure how effective it will be as of now, but It's certainly not bad.

That's a whole lotta hull to chew through.

Ships that run into Oicunn don't take damage, only ones that he bumps into.

ShrineDawg's point is that, if one or more enemy ships end their movement touching Oicunn's Decimator, and at least one of those ships' locations prevents Oicunn's Decimator to move out of base contact with them, each enemy ship will take damage.

He works well with APL!

Kenkirk seems like he needs Determination and Isard, maybe with a Hull Upgrade for good measure.

Oicunn should bring along Anti-Pursuit Lasers, no?

Since Dual falcons works, I wouldn't be surprised to see dual-decimators work as well

Kenkirk should do well with Determination and Isaard. If there are points left over, Hull Upgrade is an option.

Out of the three names pilots, I think Oicunn has the highest damage output potential. Adding in Dauntless, Mara Jade, Saboteur, and APL, you'll wreak havoc when you're in the thick of things.

I really want to use Chiraneau but he is so expensive.

I don't think double decimators are going to be very good against swarms. That 0 agility is really going to be a problem and with no way to increase the damage output of the ships (no Han rerolls and no gunner) you're going to have trouble killing Ties, especially with no actions due to bumping.

Running the numbers, I expect the 2 decimators to destroy 2 (at most 3) Ties before one is destroyed and after that 5 ties should easily dispatch the other.

Ships that run into Oicunn don't take damage, only ones that he bumps into.

Unless you take a messly 2 point uprade. APL - will be standard equipment for me.

Decimators should should be fine against swarms. Oicunn really breaks up formations.

Fair point...if he will intentionally be in the thick of things, why not get damage for all avenues?

So, shifting around a bit, and trading some stress generation for damage.

Captain Oicunn — Ruthlessness, Mara Jade, APL, Seismic charges

Commander Kenkirk — Ysanne Isard

100pts.

So, this is more centered on the furball around Oicunn. If he's in a traffic jam in the middle (using Mara and APL), he can also drop the seismic charges there for added fun.

Thinking about determination, I am not sure what I would drop to pay for it. I think I will put that on the shelf for further play testing after I get a baseline performance.

I'm a big fan of double Firesprays, but not so big a fan of double Falcons. I might borrow one and test it a few times before I commit to buying a second. I definitely don't like two so builds, though. I get more mileage out of my dual Firesprays by adding a TIE Fighter like Backstabber or Dark Curse. If I ran double Decimators, it would likely be Kenkirk and a Patrol Leader naked next to Backstabber, or give Kenkirk Ysanne and drop in an Academy.
