Yet another Dragon Variant, catering to Woodland +

By DomaGB, in Talisman Home Brews

While one friend likes my Dragon variant, as he also had a hand in it, he thinks it doesn't get enough use. His son started an idea for another variant, which I helped "flesh out".

His son realized that with the Woodland Realm we now had a region for each dragon deck. Green for Woodland, red for Dungeon, and gold for Highlands. But past that we had no other implementation.

So I said when players are in these regions and a token for that color shows up, anyone who lands on that token must draw the card for that region, but other tokens are only by choice.

There were no other dragons in the game; none for City, outer, or middle regions. But we did have them for the inner region.

I thought it was a pretty good variant, tho I do like my other one better.

I just played a full Dragon expansion game, and since I don't know what your other variant is, I like the idea of the three dragon kings controlling a different region of the board, so what if, you would use the Token rule for the outer and middle region, but, if you entered any of the three expansions, you would have to draw from that respective dragon kings deck?

I never ran with this idea any further, you are welcome to develop it. ;) I prefer another dragon variant I use.

I like the idea a lot, as a variant or house rule. I'd never get my co player wife to agree - her main mission is to avoid drawing Dragon cards, which is silly since, she wants the Dragon expansion in the mix, but she doesn't want to encounter the cards. Time and time again I've shown her that like any Adventure/Expansion deck, there are quite a few tasty objects and things to find there . . . .

My group and I played with this rule and we liked it. Our theory was that the three lords took over the seperarte regions (dungeon, highhlands and woods) so, every time you have to draw a card in any of these regions ,you drew one of their cards, with the exceprion being that if an opposing Lord was king and one of his tokens was on the space you landed, you encountered it instead (story wise, you can think of it as each respective lord was trying to undemrine the other 2). This also gave us a chnace to use the woodlands, without majorly changin how things went dwn in the woodlands,-i.e with the fate and destiny and choosing whether you were light and dark fate. Alos, instead of the eagle King and Dungeon lords, you ofhgt the dragon lord who was in charge of that region.
