2 more games, up to 4-0

By emsgoof, in X-Wing Battle Reports

Got to play another 2 games this afternoon.

First game was a chance to try out Dash Rendar, and decided to pair him with Han Solo.

Ended up having Dash w/ Cluster Missiles and Hull Upgrade, Han Solo w/ Squad Leader, Assault Missile, and Flight Instructor.

I was up against 3 Lambda Shuttles w/ various upgrades (Rebel captive, anti pursuit lasers, etc) and 2 Academy pilots.

Setup:

The first few turns, it was looking like this:

I focused my fire and took down one of the shuttles and a Tie Fighter.

Unfortunately Han was taken out by the Imperials focusing on him (to their later detriment). Dash's maneuverability and ability to ignore obstacles was invaluable and allowed me to outmaneuver the remaining shuttles staying out of their firing arcs.

For the second battle this afternoon, I was inspired by one of the Team Covenant videos we had going while we were playing our first match. The commentators had been going on about how good the B Wing was, so I decided on a list that used it.

I ended up taking Ten Numb w/ an R2 Astromech, Luke Skywalker w/ R2D2, a Red Squadron X-Wing, and a Tala Squadron Z-95 (only becuase of how cheap it was!)

My opponent went for Darth Vader in his TIE Advanced, Soontir Fel, and Echo. I know Vader was running Lone Wolf, and Echo had the advanced cloak, but I don't remember the other additions.

I forgot to take pictures the first few turns, but Darth Vader fell to my Red Squadron and Z-95 focusing their fire along with some poor dice results on my opponent's side.

My poor deployment was keeping Ten Numb and Luke out of the fight, so I was pretty worried about how the battle was going even with me picking off Vader so quickly. Soontir Fel took our the Red Squadron pilot pretty easily, but then I managed to get my ships in a position to take a few shots at Echo. Due to some of the worst dice throws ever for my opponent, I was able to destroy Echo (Echo had 2 damage remaining, I had 2 hits, he rolled 6 defense die, and you can see the result below).

This left him with just Soontir, who was extremely difficult to pin down in a firing arc (the turrets on the YT's are so nice!) but I managed to line up a few shots and finally get the victory. Ended up with 2 wins today, bringing me to 4-0 so far!

If you end up with a 30 win streak you must journey to the far away land of Minnesota to duel the great x-wing champions. They say that few return from their quest, but those that do have the power to see the truth about the meta game.

For future reference B-Wings can not take astromechs.

Oops. Yes, still learning.

Can't take astromechs on B-wings.
