Tantiv IV Gameplay

By TwoDogs71, in X-Wing Rules Questions

I purchased the Tantiv IV and am looking forward to deploying it. However the instructions say it can't be used in standard 100 pt play. I don't have enough Tie Fighters to play the first scenario of the campaign and I'm reluctant to spend the money on four more of them to play one mission.

So how do you recommend I proceed? Has anyone else run into this? Do I build 150 pt squads perhaps?

Input will be greatly appreciated!

So, as long as you and your opponent agree to something in casual games, go for it. :)

There are two Epic Play standard formats, which is what most people do. First is Epic Play, in which both sides have 300 points (and both players can have a maximum of 5 epic points in their list. Rebel Transport is 2 epic points and the tantive is 3 epic points). Then there is Team Epic Play, where there are two people per side. Each player gets 200 points and a maximum of 3 epic points. That puts 800 points on the board (and is super fun).

Thanks! That sounds cool. I'll give it a shot. However how does the imperial player compensate for not having any epic ships to spend the epic points on?

He doesn't. You each get the same number of points. How you spend them is up to you. But in epic imperials often field lots of generic cheap ships to max the number of attacks

Although Imperials also have a few high PS pilots who excel in Epic play.

Rexler Brath and Maarek Stele for instance both a have critical hit effects that are particularly good against huge ships.

Also,

Epic play is a perfect time to use all that hard hitting Ordnance, because the Huge Ships cant dodge anything

He grumbles and e-mails FFG ad-nauseam to find out when the Empire Epic ships will be coming...
