French! That is even worse! :D

A late update today.

Built the last big structure, the command bunker/living quarters and made sure that the two pieces of foam are firmly connected with each other. Also spent some time carving out space for every building and applied lots of filler to any nook and cranny.

Wow that looks awesome! :D

Spent most of the day using acetone to make my asteroid look like an asteroid. Mmm, acetone vapours...

Looking great! Will the two buildings be connected or stay separate?

The buildings will be connected later on. I didn't manage to get them as paralell to each other (and probably not as horizontally level) as I had wanted but I figured what the heck, it's a smuggler hideout, no one going to that place is going to complain much about the haphazard way the buildings has been placed.

The living quarters/command bunker is mostly finished by now and there is not a lot left to do on the hangar and landing pad either.

This is looking great, can't wait to see it done!

Finished the small turret tower behind the command bunker and continued working on the landing pad and hangar (Now with added guns!). All four turrets can be turned 360 degrees but one I needed to magnetise in order to achieve this. Also drilled a hole in the middle of the landing pad and added a tube so that ships, particularly the falcon can land fairly flat. Last pic shows the overall progress.

Wow that looks so good :D

Those turret towers look awesome

tiefanatic: Three of the turrets are actually head lasers from a Hasegawa Macross robot plastic kit. Never throw away anything!

Anyway this project is almost finished. I've fixed connecting walkways between the buildings and supporting supporting struts for the landing pad. I've also finished detailing the hangar. All that is left is some minor clean up, making sure everything fits properly and a sign on top of the cantina that says Bakura-8-3.

The best part is that the Yt-1300 can wait until a smaller ship lands in the hanger then land on the pad and squat until they are paid a bribe to move. Classic scum and villainy :D

Great detailing on the hanger and great looking corridors!

Wow, those corridors look shabla awesome.

And here I thought the corridors were too basic. It's really just some square and rectangular tubing with a few details on. Or should I think of it as me being so awesome that even the most basic of things become awesome as well? :)

Look forward to seeing it painted.

Looking good!

:)

one of those things where less is more and you nailed it.

The base is finished! Well the build part is at least. The sign on top of the cantina took was a *bleep* to finish due to all the small letters I had to make. Painting on the other hand has progressed well and most of the primary colours are in place. I'm trying to incorporate some of the same colours that can be seen on Scum & Villany ships, especially the M3-A Scyk.

Beautiful and Awesome!

Do you know how this will be used on the tabletop?

I was wondering that

its great but all three dimensional terrain has issues. even lava rock asteroids mean that if your ship lands slap bang on the centre of it you cant leave it there unless you replace it with a flat asteroid template.

My friend and I had the same issue thinking about a 3d death star board. we thought you'd probably have to put a clear perspex sheet over the top or you'd have to have *very* shallow mouldings on the surface pieces or things would fall over.

Using this in X-wing? I leave complicated stuff like that to the commissioner. :) I do know that he plans to use it for Roleplaying Games though. One idea that comes to mind would be to take a photo from above and make a print of the photo. Flat and simple.

It's going to count as a ship/terrain hybrid. In other words, if the base can lay relatively flat, it's treated as terrain. If it can't, it's treated like a ship collision and the base is moved back until it reaches a place it can safely rest.

It's also going to count as having three hard points for capital ship weapons.

I'm also experimenting with rules for landing, reloading and recharging shields (I think Hull Repair would take too long for the scope of a dogfight). The ship would have to spend an entire turn on the landing pad, and could not move, preform actions or special abilities, or fire during that turn.

This is one project that should be on a lazy susan...Totally Bad to the bone...

I had to look up what a Lazy Susan is. Anyway, here is the current progress.
