My favourite monolore deck

By Jban, in Strategy and deck-building

Hi all,

after a very long time of thinking whether I should post this deck or not, I decided to do so. I had some very hard thoughts about it and it turned into a very strong deck if you ask me.

The deck performs best in a 2 or 3 player setup. The main idea about the deck is to actually do nothing. You quest very little and you nearly ever do any combat. You might think, what does the deck actually do if it doesn't quest or combat. The main goal is to create an easy game for the other players so they can win it rather easily. Since you don't do a lot of the regular tasks, this means the other decks should be able to quest and combat all by themselves.

I've won a lot of quests with this deck (incl. Redhorn Gate NM, Passage through Mirkwood NM, Escape from Dol Guldur NM and Journey to Rhosgobel NM) and it seems it could serve in any quest except the very specific deck quests, like Fords of Isen, Battle of Lake-Town, Shadow and Flames,....

Hero (3)

1x Mirlonde (The DrĂșadan Forest)

1x Bifur (Khazad-dum)

1x Pippin (The Black Riders)

Ally (7)

2x Erebor Hammersmith (Core Set)

2x Gleowine (Core Set)

3x Ithilien Tracker (Heirs of Numenor)

Attachment (14)

3x Fast Hitch (The Dead Marshes)

3x Good Meal (The Redhorn Gate)

2x Ranger Bow (Assault on Osgiliath)

3x Resourceful (The Watcher in the Water)

3x Scroll of Isildur (The Morgul Vale)

Event (29)

3x Daeron's Runes (Foundations of Stone)

3x Expecting Mischief (Over Hill and Under Hill)

3x Gildor's Counsel (The Hills of Emyn Muil)

3x Mithrandir's Advice (The Steward's Fear)

3x Needful to Know (The Redhorn Gate)

3x Peace, and Thought (Shadow and Flame)

3x Ravens of the Mountain (On the Doorstep)

3x Risk Some Light (Shadow and Flame)

2x Rumour from the Earth (Return to Mirkwood)

3x Strider's Path (The Hunt for Gollum)

This deck might look rather cheap but to be honest it isn't. You intend to play about 5 cards minimum every round. To be able to pay all, you have Bifur and the neutral attachments (which can be returned by Erebor Hammersmith). You start within secrecy which makes it possible to play more cards. It isn't a goal to stay in secrecy but it sure helps.

Card streams:
Draw: Mithrandir's Advice, Daeron's Runes, Peace, and Thought, Gleowine, (Pippin)
Scry: Risk some Light, Rumour of the earth, Ravens of the Mountains
Resources: Resourceful, Good Meal, (Bifur)
Recycling: Erebor Hammersmith, Scroll of Isildur

The following cards are meant to take advantage of the scrying you just did.
Ithilien Tracker (+Bow)
Gildor's Counsel (+Good Meal very often)
Strider's Path
Unexpected Mischief

Extra's about the deck:

Fast hitch, to be able to play peace and thought and ravens of the Mountains
Ravens of the Mountains, if you scried a very hard encounter by Risk some Light, a deck shuffle might come in handy.
Rumour of the Earth, I think it is better than Henamarth because it is free. You need your resources most of the times so a free scry seems better to me. If you became rich due to many resourcefuls, the 1 cost to recycle it isn't any issue.
Erebor Hammersmith, next to the recycling of attachments you sometimes need an ally to defend.

Mulligan:

Sufficient Draw or Risk Some Light/Gildor's Counsel

Grtz,

Jban
