Rushed out to pick up my pre orders this eveing from my local games store and while Rebel Aces seems old hat to a lot of people i'm delighted with it.

Picked up two boxs and after a bit of B wing tweaking (really dont like the static pose) they are ready for action.

Cool re-positioning. Still waiting on Amazon for my copy

B wing conversion advice.

Personally I dont like the static looking B wing 'upright' pose and prefer more dynamic ones where they look liek they are rotating.

My first B wing conversion was a real pig, i spent ages carefully sawing off the cockpit front and when it came off i realised it was on a pin/bolt. Also i put the stand mount under the wings as i just couldnt get it to come off and reposition otherwise.

However with rebel aces i noticed that you can just get a scalpel between the join and if you wiggle it the cockpit pops off. So it made converting these two easier. Likewise the rear L shape post mount seems to rotate a lot easier.

I've taken a pic of the post for the cockpit, as you can see its flat on one side which stops repositioning and rotation but if you carefully shave a mm or so off the peg you end up with a cockpit that rotates but is still firm.

That's preety cool, didn't realise it was that easy....ideas are forming.

I've done a few custom paint jobs and found that the newer models arent as well put together as the older models once the thinner gets to the glue, the paint jobs on the newer models are much better and the paint is harder to get off in the first place.

Might try to reprint and re-pose a b wing next!

these B wings just popped off with a bit of a twist and nudge

(needlenose pliers wrapped in cloth fo break the glue then scalpel to nudge the cockpit off)

The one i got in June was a pig to get the cockpit off.

I've just repainted an A and a Z95 in the last few days so will have a bit of a break and then try a B with a cockpit mod. Cheers
