Do you know why "Advanced Cloaking Device" is TIE Phantom only and "Stygium Particle" has no ship restructions but can only be assigned to a TIE Phantom to be useful ?

Can we expect to have some cards bringing "cloak" action to some ships ?

The general idea so far seems to be that ACD would actually trigger on any ship, even those without the cloak action, and thus needed to be restricted.

This doesn't mean we wont see other cloaking ships, but I don't think we can garner any info from those two cards, one way or another.

At least to decloak you need to cloak first ?

You don't need the action in your action bar if you are granted the said action via free action. Like Expert Handling or ACD.

Not true. That's like saying Jake's ability says he can BR or bst, but since BR isn't on his action bar, he can't do that action. ANY ship (if ACD didn't say Phantom only) could preform a free cloak action after shooting. And then any ship can decloak once it is cloaked since it's not an action.

Exactly. Otherwise the ACD would work similar to a ship that has Fire Control System and can acquire a target lock from that even though the ship doesn't necessarily need to have Target Locks on the action bar! So to avoid things like Cloaking YT-1300s, the ACD specifies Phantoms only.

In the same way that Isard lets you evade even if you do not have the evade action

or

R7 lets you boost and target lock even if you lack those actions

or

Expert Handling lets you roll without the action.

or

Fire Control System lets you TL without the action.

Point is that there are a number of cards in the game that let you take actions you do not have and at the same time do not add them to your bar (like engine upgrade). ACD without the Phantom only restriction would have been one of those.

I think any ship that can take stygium(has cloak)or ACD has to be completely balanced around that. Give ACD Wedge a try if you doubt it.

You need the action to cloak or decloak before SPA kicks in, ACD is phantom only so clearly i'm not talking about that am i.

You can't use it at all, which is why it is unrestricted. It doesn't matter that the Falcon can take it, since it can't use it.

It would be neat if they came out with an illicit upgrade for scum and villainy that grants the cloak action. Make it hella expensive though

I think they may, but I imagine the cost will not be in just points. Perhaps stress, or reduced firepower, or something else.
