I fly empire, the good guys.
Poll - Rebel or Imperial?
Rebels against my youngest son, Imperials against my eldest son and daughter.
Best of both worlds.
Rebs for the most part.
Except for two times I have always played as the Empire.
Imperials for me.
Not a tourney player.. yet.. but I'm also not a fan of same on same battles. I much prefer Imps vs Rebels..
Yes!
I'm usually flying Imps, because my usual group are two brothers, each flying one side, and it's just simpler to do two on one when the two are Imps. But, I love flying X and Y-wings myself whenever possible.
So, I guess I'll answer my own question...
I usually play Rebels. I started with them due to a limited collection, and they've just stuck. However, I dabble with Imperial builds since my collection has expanded, and I love them for a change of pace... there's nothing like playing B-Wings for a month then grabbing some TIE Interceptors with PtL and flying all over the board like a madman.
But... I always come back to Rebels. I'm more comfortable (and more competitive) with them. I know them better, and I've taken a liking to their synergy - I have to make them work together. I know it's the same with Imperials, but I think one can make better individually performing ships with Imps.
Thanks for all the responses. I want to go back to this thread and tally up the numbers. I have the impression, from my limited time on the forums, that most people here play Imperials. But that'll have to wait until tomorrow. I have whiskey to drink right now.
I like playing Rebels best. I end up playing Imps often though because my son likes the Rebels.
My mind says Imperial,
My soul says Rebel,
I´ll end up a Villain!

I'd say I'm about 55% rebel 45% imperial. I enjoy playing both, but lean a bit more toward rebels.
I usually play Rebels.
For the Emperor!
For me, it's never been so much a matter of builds as it is theme.
I've always enjoyed being "the bad guy" in games, and I really like Stormtroopers, so Imperials seemed like the natural choice.
But once S&V is out...
Anyone wanna buy a bunch of Ties?
For the Rebellion!
I tinker with the imperial overlords just to identify their weaknesses and then vape them with extreme predudice.
Space cows

I really enjoy thematic lists, on of my favs still is Lando (Nien onboard) with Wedge and Arvel.
I will play both but generally run Imperials. Because TIEs just sound too cool.
Rebels. Came to X-Wing because of the X-Wing novels and comics, so the chance to play those characters always swings me in that direction (though Soontir Fel, Broak Vessary and Tetran Cowall do swing me into the Imperial side of things occasionally).
I am by no means competitive...
But why on earth would anyone want to play as the filthy Rebellion?
Stand for all that is just and right! Be a defender of the Imperial way!
This war never would have started if the Rebels had not fired first!!
Imperial. All guts, no shields.
Mostly I just like more manoeuvrable ships
Then, shouldn't you be playing rebels?
Soon, even Y-wings are going to be more maneuverable than imperial counterparts.
Imperials have more AGILE (=green dice) ships, not maneuverable ones. The only true maneuverable ships in the imperial arsenal are the interceptor and the phantom.
My allegiance is to the imperials but I am having a blast playing both.

I generally fly some combination of Interceptors and TIEs, occasionally a phantom. By comparison most rebel ships handle like a housebrick, especially given the lack of movement actions. The only manoeuvrable rebel is really the A-wing, and until recently that hasn't been worth basing a list around.
The Rebellion, but I'll be bought off by Black Sun and Associates soon.
X-wings are my favourite Star Wars ship so I play rebels. However if friends want to play I let them pick what side they want.
Empire, all the way.
