I love me space cows so list two. BUT the cow needs engine upgrade more than it needs rebel captive and more than kath needs marksmanship

I don't feel shuttles need engine upgrades. Roll them in slow. I like the second.

I took a Kath plus two shuttles list to a tournament and it was fun. In my experience, I paired tactician with Gunner for 2 stress a turn.

Also because your spelling is very improvisational.

List two seems more fun, BUT:

take outmaneuver if you're taking marksmanship. Recon spec and Marksmanship are anti-synergistic.

Also try Tactician and Gunner instead of Rebel Captive and Gunner. However, your combination can work too. Engine Upgrade is optional, but if you don't use it, then you need to fly in at slow speeds and also intend to use the shuttle as coming in from a different vector.

In my experience a shuttle without the engine upgrade will only get one pass then spend most of the game turning.

I have found the best shuttle build is EU and Advanced sensors. Being able to boost then do the hard two turn gets it back in the fight quickly.

Tactician + gunner is a great combo though

That completely ignores your opponent though. Roll as slow as you want, that doesn't stop a half-decent opponent just flying past you on the K and leaving you dead to rights. It needs the Engine Upgrade because without it takes too long to get back in the game if a pass is made. I'd only say Doomshuttle or Shuttle Bump don't need it.

Pretty good

But you may as well go for you the full buzzsaw, drop the merc off the shuttle the and put on a FCS.

When the gunner triggers this combo allows you to fire your second shot with the T/L you just got from the FCS.

So you really want to miss with that first shot. **** good combo.

I do that too some times. It tends to work best if you have Yorr in behind the OGP for the obvious bump'n'stop

It does make for a dull game though.

Bottom line is play how you feel is best if you find that space cows work best without certain upgrades then who am I to tell you otherwise.

Like you I speak from experience, I play cows in most of my games and for me it often game over once my opponent gets behind my cow(s) line of fire.

That boost is a must. For me

That's fine. If your only argument to a reasonable explanation as to why most Shuttle builds need the upgrade is 'my experience is better than your logic', then we don't really have anything to talk about.

I like list 2 better. Although I'd just stick Vader on the shuttle and leave it at that. Give scarlet a engine upgrade and push the limit.

In my humble option using engine upgrades on shuttles is a waste (especially when flying one), so says my second place finish at the nationals and most of the top 8 lists of premier tournaments that feature a shuttle.

Taking an engine upgrade on a bounty hunter is pretty decent, but not required .

Final thought:
Kath, gunner, engine, veteran instincts.

Omicron, Vader.

hey hey hey. Let's cool off here a bit =). All of you are nice people that I like.

I'm one of those unicorn-level-legendary non-Boosting shuttle players. They're VERY GOOD. The difference is you need macro-scopic understanding of flight-draws.

Flight-drawing is a flank style that pulls your opponent towards one thing, and kills them with the other side. Consider a 2D Thach Weave. Or the center set up of the Nationals List.

Also, that boost into the center can be extremely crucial. Most shuttles have enough firepower to really destroy that single target.

Also having the right single pass loadout is critical:

Captain Yorr is one of the best loadouts. As he passes, he becomes a HUGE buff area that improves the power of the rest of your squad.

Tactician Gunner is another favorite

Doomshuttle is also great.

Hell. Dom plays 4 shuttles no EU. He also plays Soontir 3 shuttles no EU. Rick plays Yorr with no EU.

You just compensate for the no EU by having other ships that can move to protect the shuttle if they go behind it. They waste too much time on that.

If you know how the trajectories form on a macro-scopic scale you will see easy places you can insert a non-EU shuttle.

For now, just try shuttle in one corner, and the rest of your squad in the other corner. Fly slow in. Give it a try.

The shuttle is also huge, so its an incredible blocker.
