Power levels of Jedi

Hey Y'all

I imagine that we will see an escalating power level as new books come out. It would be a bit like the Warhammer 40K books. Start off as an average joe in Dark Heresy, get a respectable title in Rogue Trader (hey, you do get a big ship!), then you finally graduate to Deathwatch where you play the Space Marines who are the pinnacle of power.

How is this measuring up in Star Wars. In Edge of the Empire you play a dude just making his or her way in the Galaxy, in Age of Rebellion you become a member of the Galactic conflict and get better training and better gear, do you have the ability to shake the galaxy in a big way with Force and Destiny?

Force users are the same power level as all the other characters. If 2 characters have the same XP they have the same power level. Force users just require a lot of XP to be a powerful force users.

Sorry, my EotE character can buy and sell any number of pyjama-wearing glow-stick wavers all day long just with the petty cash in her first front-company...

The thing is all of the games are the same power level. Just have different focuses.

Thank god, no.

Finally someone who understands true power...

The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of shorting every corporation on it first.

Which ironically also indicates just how strategically bad destroying Alderaan was.

Fortunately, as indicated, the FFG Star Wars games are nothing like WH40K.

However, you certainly didn't graduate to Deathwatch. You can own planets and fleets in Rogue Trader. And use favors to get Space Marines to do the fighting for you.

XP amount is a relative power level. A player of mine have a 2.400 XP char that has the same or above combat power level that a guy with 1.000 XP has.

So, intead making a great pack, I suggest that use the rules one page (opening my book XD) 102, where explain what means each Rank on a skill. Also consider Talents in every field as a bonus reference that add "power level".

The best doctor among the galaxy doesn't need 3.000 XP, just 4 or 5 Ranks on Medicine, and maybe Xenology too, a good Intellect stat and Talents from any Doctor Trees.

Someone with 450-600 XP will be probably the best (or among) Doctor on the galaxy with no need to hold (or know how to) a blaster gun.

From context, I think you might have said your XP amounts but XP is a good indicator of Power level. Power level does not refer solely to combat utility. A negotiator who can get the enemy to lay down arms from an inferior position is quite a bit more powerful than the best sniper.
