Star Wars Rebels sourcebook?

By Krylyyk, in Star Wars: Age of Rebellion RPG

No objections from me, AF. And thanks for the compliment!

I've said before I wouldn't mind if they disseminate bits of new EU stuff into the splatbooks, which they have been doing artfully since the line began - ships, races, places, gear. That's all fine. I'd just prefer not to see a 'Rebels' sourcebook personally.

If they do one - and I'm kinda doubting they will, but I was wrong about playable Hutts too - then as you say, it's no skin off my nose.

Am I alone in not really wanting this to be a thing?

You're not alone. The problem I see with a sourcebook for an ongoing TV series is that it can never contain all of the cool stuff from the show. For a movie or a novel, it's possible to include most of it. But as the TV series progresses, they need either to produce more sourcebooks or introduce cool elements in other, not specifically related sourcebooks--which is what they could do anyway. I think of the Saga Edition supplement for Clone Wars that doesn't contain all that much from the series.

Star Wars Miniatures did it by releasing some characters in an initial set, then doing a second one that blended characters from several series (including clone wars) under a different topic. Worked pretty well for them :)

Yeah, but randomly packaged collectable minis aren't RPG soucebooks, chummer.

No, but the premise of blending content from an ongoing show into a product line without a dedicated release to that show is the same. Like if they threw stats for the VCX-100 into a book about ships or smugglers. Or included C1 Model Astromech droids in a section on droids somewhere. Disperse Rebels content into source books without making a dedicated "Star Wars Rebels Handbook" or anything.
