Multiple Flowing Strikes

By aslum, in UFS Rules Q & A

R: After your attack played as a reversal deals damage, you may play a Reversal from your hand, following all restrictions and paying all costs. If that attack deals damage, discard all cards from your card pool.

I have just blocked and reversaled. My opponent doesn't (or can't) block.

I have 3 FS in my hand as well as 3 reversals.

What order do I play them in?

You should only be able to play one, I'd think. Since it says "after your attack played as a Reversal", you'd have to play all three at once. However, since it's part of the card's effect, you'd think you'd have to resolve the attack played with its effect right then.

Ed: Then again, I suppose the window for that's still open, isn't it? Hrm. Interesting.

AHAHAHAHA

DEFENDER LOOP HO

Here's how it works:

1) Your 1st Reversal (played as a reversal) does damage.

2) You play your 1st Flowing Strikes in response. You immediately play your 2nd Reversal, as part of the effect (don't forget to make the control check).

3) Your opponent passes on Rs.

4) You play your 2nd Flowing Strikes in response. You immediately play your 3rd Reversal, as part of the effect (including control check).

5) Your opponent passes on Rs.

6) You play your 3rd Flowing Strikes in response. You immediately play your 4th Reversal, as part of the effect (including control check; it's at like +6 progressive difficulty right now due to the blocks, Flowing Strikes, and Reversals already in your pool).

7) Your opponent passes on Rs. You pass on Rs. Start resolving your Flowing Strikes-induced Reversals.

8) If your 2nd Reversal does damage, then (due to 1st Flowing Strikes), you will discard all cards from your card pool. This includes the other Flowing Strikes and, more-importantly, the 3rd and 4th Reversals. So your 3rd and 4th Reversals were played for nothing.

So you never want to play more than one Flowing Strikes at a time.

FOLLOW-UP QUESTION: Say an attack played as a Reversal does damage. And I play Flowing Strikes. And the Reversal played with Flowing Strikes does damage (clearing out my card pool). Can I now respond with another Flowing Strikes?

ANSWER: No. The Reversal played using Flowing Strikes' ability was not played "as a reversal," so Flowing Strikes cannot respond. (Also, you can't respond to the first reversal--the one played as a reversal--doing damage, as that window has long since closed.)
