Hello fellow x-wing lovers. Just started playing and love it started buying any expansions i can get my hands on. Talk about diving in ha ha !! One silly question can i put pilots into different ships for example Can i put Wedge in a A-wing???

No.

The ships are 'fixed' to the pilots. Their point cost takes into account both the ship and the pilot's special ability. That also prevents broken or absurd combinations.

FFG may release in the future 'alternative versions' of existing pilots for different ships, however, their abilities will probably change according to the new ship. There's a precedent now with Bobba Fett, which has an Imperial version and a Scum version with different abilities, albeit piloting the same ship.
