Starting ships?

By progressions, in General Discussion

Are there any ships in the F&D book which qualify as starting ships besides the G-9 Rigger?

I didn't see any ships that could sleep a party of 5 and cost less than 60,000 credits.

Was I missing something?

Nope, so far it's just the G9 Rigger in the F&D book

In fact, I'm not sure there's even any ships in the EotE splats that cost less than 60,000 credits that could accommodate an entire party. The JumpMaster 5000 meets the price restriction but only carries two people, and the Lancet in Suns & Fortunes has the same issue.

Hopefully the final corebook while have at least one other option.

If nothing else, one can skim through Wookieepedia to see what ships exist that fall under that price.

For instance, the 3-Z Light Freighter, which I did a write-up for a while back on the GSA:

Also the Kazellis Light Freighter, again from the GSA:

I didn't see any. At session 0 the other night I said the party could have an HWK-290 but as I look more closely at it, I think I'd have to stretch the rules to say it could sleep the whole party.

The HWK-290 is good for a party of around three, but once it expands to four or five it's not feasible.

I see two options: have the party start with a ship specially modified to fit them but somehow in debt for the mods (maybe not Obligation, but they have to do work for somebody for a while), or find another ship and strip off some of its bells and whistles to make it fit the profile (i.e., a YT without guns and maybe a slower hyperdrive).

Alternatively, just give the group a starting ship out of EotE. Who cares? It's their adventure.

I agree, I wouldn't really have a problem with F&D characters starting with a YT-1300 or Firespray or whatever.

But I also wouldn't have a problem just hand-waving a change to the HWK and saying it sleeps five. It most likely wouldn't come up, especially in the adventure I have planned for this group.

Still, it would be nice to see a few more options for starting ships that suit the rules given in the book. I know that Anakin had a G-9 Rigger but some variety would be nice.

Mal: (incredulous) You share a bunk?

My two PCs each got a "starting resource":

The Pilot owns the Firespray they are on (and their two droids) and the ex-Jedi has a damaged Holocron on which he can only access the Lightsaber forms and a basic Lightsaber.
