Who else would prefer one SW RPG board?

By DanteRotterdam, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

I know I would…

As it is right now all three games have different boards which (again) are all set up differently as well. There are just too many as far as I’m concerned.

There is the EotE page, with the tagged on EotE GM page, the EotE beginner game page, The AoR page, without a separate GM page, the AoR beginner game page and then there are the four F&D pages that will eventually be removed in favor of 1 or 2 pages plus a beginner game page.

I would rather have 1 page for all three SW RPG’s especially since it seems many topics are cross game anyway.

Otherwise, carry on and whatever...

If they are going to make 3 boards, separate out the GM section so it is not attached to 1 board.

I like the nested board idea, but basically it needs 3 Top Levels. The downside of a combined board is the limited amount of threads per page. So you need some nesting.

Star Wars

  • Print on Demand Cards
    - Here they can further break it down to Adversary / Specialization / Career Decks
  • Game Masters
    - This part can be broken down into Adventure GMing published adventures / Story Ideas & help / General rule questions
  • General - Can be broken into the 3 lines.
  • FAQs - Stickied posts of the most frequently asked questions from the other 3 forums.

Edit (stupid forum stole like 4 lines of this).

I guess I am pretty much the minority then....

No, you have my bow.

We need better overlap, but we still need some separation, too. My proposal would be this:

Star Wars Role-playing as the top level, and then under that four sub-forums reading: Edge of the Empire, Age of Rebellion, Force and Destiny (when it comes) and General. If there's a desire for separating out Games Master threads (I'm not fussed but some are), then each of the forums could have a separate sub-forum again.

No, you have my bow.

And you have my sword.

I like having the three lines. I am not sure how deep into Age of Rebellion I am going to go, but I want everything Edge and F&D.

And my ax!

I'm new to posting, but have been lurking for a bit. The thing which tickles me the most is that I have no investment in the F&D beta (or AoR beta before it), but many posts in the EotE section were about the betas.

I'm a fan of this with a twist. Under the general Star Wars Role-Playing board have four sub fourms. One for each product line and a general GM board.

I'm thinking the general discussions can take place in the general Star Wars RP board. Although, if it's just a folder to group the sub-folders, like the FnD beta board, then a general board at the same level as the product line and GM boards would be good.

Since the games are so similar, the majority of the conversations could take place in the general RP board. Specific questions for each product line can take place in the sub-forums. I'd also like to see a GM board for discussion of published adventures and what not. That way there is less need to write "spoiler" all over every post. Players will know to stay out of the GM area unless they want to see GM only information. I don't think each line needs its own GM forum, because again, the majority of the discussions are similiar. General advice for how to build an encounter, deal with high soak, ect.

Surely you wouldn't deprive an old man of his walking stick?

On topic, I'm all for a general board with sub-forums for specific systems.

Pfffff! Tourists!

You shall have my light saber!

George Bush also endorses this notion;

No, you have my bow.

And you have my sword.

And my ax!

And my blaster!

You know, I'd be okay with just some direct links to the main forums at the top of every page. For some reason, my browser isnt smart enough to autofill the FFG URL's, so I have to back out to visit each one - a serious pain in the ass.

I just use the Like notifications in the top right to go to my threads or between forums.

Yeah, but that requires me not to be an abrasive ass-hole all the time. Nobody here loves me!

I also for uniting the different forum sections.

We must unite the forums under a single New Order. Together we can eliminate the bureaucracy and corruption of the multiple forum system and bring order to the community.

I'd like a link to the websites from these forums. I also think there is no need for the Basic set forums. One think they could do is put Keyword tags like Enworld does so people can search for a particular branch of the game.

Blast, you beat me to it!

I was thinking along these lines a while ago. You could put up a Star Wars Roleplaying page, which would include separate pages per game and a general section that includes all games.

And thus the Empire was born.

...

That's it! Startin' a rebellion!

I'll NEVER JOIN Y- actually, no, no, that sounds pretty good. Consider me joined. Do I get a cape too?

I fear I have no witty quip, but vote for combined boards forthwith.

And my sharp pointy stick

I've got a really reliable tin opener if that would help

I say link the forums... Link them all!

Don't think it will ever happen with the way the site works :

1 product in the Catalog -> 1 associated Mini Site and Forum
