Treason of Saruman Predictions

By DC06675, in The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game

Hey guys,

we already know the answer to most of these questions. The back of the Treason of Saruman Box was shown at Gen-Con.

It says we're going to hunt Uruk-hai, fight Helm's Deep, and March with the Ents against Isengard! There's your three quests.

So excited!

And we will be getting a Shadowfax neutral attachment that can only be attached to Gandalf. No doubt it will allow him to ready but I wonder what the specifics of the card will be.

So then are we maybe going to get another Merry/or Pippin? I know we already have 2 pippins but it'd be neat to see more.

I could see getting a new Pippin and Merry. As a thematic and cohesive element the Merry and Pippin that we have currently would be reduced in effectiveness due to the fact that they fit so well in an all-hobbit deck. I would have no problem with new versions, but it is not nearly as necessary as Legolas and Gimli (especially Gimli, I don't think he has aged as well as some other heroes have).

Sorry I if have missed this in another tread... but anybody worked out what text, that we can see at least, for that Ally/Hero on the back? The stats are hero like (Aragorn) but the cost looks like 0? So confused... is this another 0 cost Dunedin ally with amazing stats?

It seems you've confused the hero template with the ally template. Look a the color of the cost, that is obviously a hero. Anyway, as it was revealed by Caleb and mentioned in various sources, that is a new Fellowship sphere Aragorn, as he will replace Frodo as the Fellowship hero for the first Two Towers saga expansion and presumably the first Return of the King saga expansion. As for the text, it has the usual first player control him, if he leaves play the players lose the game, and the third ability is obscured but I'm fairly certain it's something about paying 2 resources from Aragorn's resource pool to do something (I can read "Spend 2 --es from Aragorn's...")

Was just typing this reply but Gizlivadi beat me to it :P

Thanks... confused I was!

On the back of the box it says: The Treason of Saruman also inculed x new heroes..., where x is sadly not visible in the picture provided in this thread. Doesn anyone know how many heroes there will be?

Well, at least "heroes" means more than 1.

Fellowship hero + conventional hero = "heros"

If you'll read the box, it reads "that increases customization options". I can't see how a fellowship hero increases customization options. Regardless, if there'll be just one non-fellowship hero - it will be a total bummer.

Oh I think we'll get at least two non-fellowship heros, but for a box that's probably a year away I'm not going to pay much attention to FFG marketing speak.

Would absolutely love if the game did this. I don't think that either the battle of dale or the assaults on Lothlorien and subsequent destruction of Dol Guldur have ever been portrayed in any game or movie or anything really. There is even also a battle between Thranduil and his people and forces sent by Dol Guldur as well. Second age would be a bit harder....

Battle of Dale, Lothlórien and Dol Guldur were in the Battle for Middle-Earth 2 videogame, IIRC.

Ah yeah but I thought those games were atrocious =P

You're right in that you do at least fight battles that in the game are the equivalent of these great battles but the lore is all different and wrong so I don't really count it haha

These "non-trilogy" Saga quests would make awesome Gen-con scenarios.
