Help me build a competitive Rebel Aces list

By EvilEd209, in X-Wing

So, I am getting ready to go to the game store tonight (8 hours from now) and I am looking for a new list to break me out of my Imperials funk.

I recently purchased two copies of Rebel Aces (and have a minimum of 2 of every other ship) and I am looking for a competitive list that highlights what is good from Rebel Aces.

So, what should I run?

Keyan with HLC and Opportunist?
Prototypes with Chardaan Refit?

Nera with 2 Flechette Torpedoes and Munitions Failsafe?

What are your thoughts?

Opened ended question, so I am looking to debate and Math-Wing a good list to play tonight.

Thanks guys!

I'm contemplating the following for a tournament soon:

2 x Dagger Squadron, Ion Cannon, B/E2 & Tactician

2 x Green Squadron, Chaardan Refit & PtL

...but for the more fun elements of the box, Jake Farrell & Keyan Farlander are good to focus on. I also REALLY want to try Tycho with Chaardan, Daredevil & PtL...

IMO Keyan and Jake are the most solid pilots in Rebel Aces, and as the higher PS ones in the set they could also be considered the faces of the expansion. Cheaper A-Wings are the other big thing the pack brings, so if you want to make a RA "themed" list I would expect you to combine all those things.

Keyan

Advanced Sensors

HLC

B-Wing/E2

C-3P0

Jake

PTL

VI

Test Pilot

Chardaan

Prototype

Chardaan

Prototype

Chardaan

That's 99 points, and includes a heavy, a nimble flanker, and two points-efficient fillers/blockers. If you wanted you could trade the HLC for PTL on Keyan and a Proton Rocket on Jake.

Gibarain > I like that one... Alright, you have my wheels turning.

I already built a fairly decent one (includes wave 5 stuff though):

Keyan Farlander

Opportunist

Advanced Sensors

Ibtisam

VI

Advanced Sensors

Tycho Celchu

PtL

ATP

EH

EI

CR

Ibby strips tokens for Keyan to use opportunist, while Tycho flanks getting 3 actions.

I debated running Wes to help strip tokens for Keyan.

I think Keyan + Opportunist is one of the strongest combos available, so I'll play around with that...

I happen to be partial to Jan Ors, and with Ion Cannon Turret + Nien Nunb she comes to 31. If we use Opportunist + Advanced Sensors as a build for Keyan (relatively inexpensive, flexible, and with a nice amount of offensive power) That leaves 33 points for another ship or two; the aforementioned Wes makes things really easy on Keyan, and Wes Janson + Predator is conveniently 32. That list looks like this:

Keyan Farlander (29)
Opportunist (4)
Advanced Sensors (3)
Jan Ors (25)
Ion Cannon Turret (5)
Nien Nunb (1)
Wes Janson (29)
Predator (3)
Total: 99
The idea is that Wes fires, stripping a token; Jan fires, either controlling next round's target or adding insult to injury against Wes' target, and then Keyan shoots with Jan's buff. Straightforward, doesn't fall apart if you lose any one ship--perfectly doable.

But, perhaps, somewhat boring? Roark is a nice trick to bring along, and he's a lot cheaper than Jan. He also leaves you enough room to shoehorn two more ships into the list, like so:
Keyan Farlander (29)
Opportunist (4)
Roark Garnet (19)
Ion Cannon Turret (5)
Rookie Pilot (21)
Rookie Pilot (21)
Total: 99

But maybe none of these are "Aces" enough, because it still uses non-Aces pilots and doesn't have the E2 modification. Things could get more Acey, is what I'm saying. In that case, can I offer something like this?
Keyan Farlander (29)
Opportunist (4)
Advanced Sensors (3)
Intelligence Agent (1)
B-Wing/E2 (1)
Jake Farrell (24)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Chardaan Refit (-2)
Push the Limit (3)
A-Wing Test Pilot (0)
Nera Dantels (26)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Fire-Control System (2)
Heavy Laser Cannon (7)
Total: 100

Here I'm ignoring Nera's pilot ability; she's just a PS7 B-wing who brings a really big gun to help strip tokens. (Things get even more interesting if she has the B-wing/E2 + Han Solo, which you can do if you remove the B-wing/E2 + Intelligence Agent from Keyan and substitute a Fire Control System for his Advanced Sensors.) Basically she and Keyan punch as hard as they can for as long as they can, while Jake arrows in from the side and takes Range 1 shots at his chosen target.
