Hey rules guru's - Just after a hand with an unusual rule we came across for the first time tonight...

Example:

Defending ship has Sensor Jammer. Attacking ship has Tgt Lock.

Attacking ship attacks and rolls 3 natural blanks. Attacker uses Target Lock and rolls 'Hit, Focus, Blank'.

Question: Can Sensor Jammer be activated by the defender to alter this 'Hit' to a Focus?

We weren't sure if Sensor Jammer only works against the first natural batch of dice, even though there was nothing to Jam, or if it worked against the first 'Hit' it could Jam.

Attacker rolls.

Defender modifies attack dice.

Attacker modifies attack dice.

Defender rolls.

Attacker modifies defense dice.

Defender modifies defense dice.

so the defender would have to use Sensor jammer prior to the attackers use of his TL. this would make the modifed dice ineligible to be re-rolled.

Sensor Jammer is used by the Defender immiediately after the Attacker rolls the dice. He doesn't get a chance to use his target lock until the Defender has finished with any abilities that may modify the Attacker's dice.

See page 11 - Step 3 of the Combat Phase, second paragraph.

The timing is:

1. Attacker declares target
2. Attacker rolls attack dice
3. Defender modifies attack dice then Attacker modifies attack dice
4. Defender rolls defence dice
5. Attacker modifies defence dice then Defender modifies defence dice
6. Compare Results
7. Deal damage
