Today was my first match against someone using rebel aces. Nera, Farlander and Sojan all made an appearance, and were summarily dealt with by:

Colonel Vessery + Ion Cannon + Outmaneuver

Royal Guard + Outmaneuver

Delta + Ion Cannon

Hmm… Ion Cannons and Outmaneuver against two ships with a massive point sink and only one evade die… you can probably imagine how that turned out. I must say my opponent made some great opening moves, and I had to pull some difficult eyeballing to escape his trap but my plan and deployment won out. If not for Nera's ability his B-Wings might only have made one shot all game between the lot of them. With them both destroyed and all my ships alive (though some were beat up pretty good) my opponent conceded.

I must say, I'll be happy if there's more B-Wings being used. I love me some Outmaneuver.

Yeah. Ions eat Bs for breakfast. yup yup.

I'm glad Nera is good though. Though, it was tons of fun escorting my friends fully loaded Ibtisam off the board edge with a 21 pt HWK.

Ion cannons are hideously effective against a lot of Rebel ships - B's, X's, Y's, HWK's, YT's... and probably much more effective when deployed on the small-based Defender than on the Shuttle or Firespray. Most Imperial fighters hve an OK chance of avoiding Ion Cannon hits. Rebels; not so much.

Yet another reason why Defenders are, in fact, the dog's proverbials.

Though honestly I'd argue that they're not that effective against Y-Wings. I mean while you're certainly likely to hit, chances are the Y was gonna do that maneuver anyway.

Though seriously, if you can hang them up on an asteroid that's always good.
