OT- Ohio Players?

By JimmyKamikaze, in X-Wing

Hello I am relatively new to the X Wing game. Loving it. Having a blast.

Anyone around here in Ohio and playing?

Whereabouts? Ohio's a fairly big place.

I'm in the Akron area. There are some of us that try to get together on Fridays at JAC games down in the cuyahoga valley and the are monthly tournaments at Underhill games in the falls. One this weekend actually.

I know there were 3 stores in Cleveland running the Imdaar Alpha event.

Welcome to the game. However this isn't really off topic, but looking in the X-Wing organised play sub forum will be more productive.

That sub forum needs some clarification. "Organized play", to me, means tournaments, not player locators.

I'm in southwest Ohio, great place for gaming, but a bit of a drive.

I am in Columbus and there are quite few people here. There is an Xiwng Ohio page on Facebook too!

Thanks! Loving the game and im trying to get out and play more. Wanting to try out a tournament or something soon too! Thanks again!

Could you link that?

Actually Im in Barberton, next to Akron. I've heard about the tourneys at Underhills. Good time?

Heck man, I live in Manchester. Your probably no more than 10 minute drive from me.

You should totally come up to JACs this Friday. I don't know how many people will be playing X-Wing, they are having a big 40K Apocalypse game that night, but there will be at least a couple of us playing X-Wing.

I'm in Columbus, as well. I mainly play at my house but I've hit up the Guard Tower a few times.

Holy crap! I was raised in Manchester. My girlfriend actually lives in Manchester. Wow. Small galaxy indeed!

Believe it or not, my friend and i were actually on planning on gojn to JAC friday to check tout Warhammer. Sheesh, not gonna lie, im a little creeped out.

Springfield area, here. Playing opportunities are pretty slim where I live, so if anyone out there knows of any regular gaming nights in the Springfield/Dayton area, I'm down.

I know there was a cool place called Epic Loot near Dayton/Beavercreek. I'm not sure if they do X Wing. If you feel like making the drive to Columbus, the Guard Tower is on the west side just off of I-70.

Epic Loot is an awesome store. They are in Centerville and they do X-Wing on a regular basis there. They actually hosted a Regional there this past season.

I am at the Guard Tower pretty much every Thursday night playing Malifaux, but I may be able to squeeze in a game. I know they have a semi regular X-Wing group that comes out often enough. Also the Soldiery on High Street in Columbus has a regular X-Wing group and small Tournaments as well.

Oh and FYI. Anyone that feels like driving to Columbus this weekend...."Just a reminder, Open X-Wing Play on Saturday, October 11, at 12:30 - 5:45pm at the Westerville Public Library in Meeting Room B. Open to every body. Bring those potential lists you are planning to run at The Soldiery's X-Wing Tournament on October 19th, and work out any kinks or gaps in the list. We may have a Blitz game or two as well. One ship each person, 32 points."

Oh, man. I try to avoid The Solidery as much as possible. It has gotten better over the past couple of years, but it is one of my least favorite game stores I have ever been to. If only the Guard Tower would hold tournaments. I'm trying to make it there every other week. I try to alternate between X-Wing and 40k. The nice thing about X-Wing is that I can bring a small case of the ships I want.

Epic Loot is a great place to play with cool people. Right now they do 100 point tournaments on the first Saturdays of the month and escalation on the third Saturdays, both free and start at noon. Worth the drive for me. (I live near the 70/675 interchange)

Excellent. Well, I will be there for X-Wing. Probably around 6:30 or so. At least, that is what I usually aim for.

Tournaments are some of the best I have been to, they feel a lot less like a tournament and more like casual gaming where your opponent is decided for you.

JimmyKamikaze, I run the events at Underhill's. The next one is this Sunday w/ registration starting at 12pm. This is a very friendly group of guys and we have had a number of newer players come and join us. There are about 16 or so players that rotate in and out of the events at Underhill's. We normally have the events on Saturdays but this is an odd month due to schedule conflicts. I hope you can make it up to the Falls and join us.

I have been out there a few times it is small but not terrible really. I do prefer the Tower as well, but I will go where the games are.

I am in Mogadore and looking to play close to home. My group usually meets in Northfield but we have gotten away from X-Wing much to my chagrin. I haunt Underhills and pop into JAC on occasion.

I just turned a guy onto X-Wing who has never played a miniatures game before. He bought a slew of Rebel ships and a small squad of Imperials. It looks like my local friend player base is growing.
