So the Ghost is really big. (Rebels episode 3 spoiler)

By Rogue Dakotan, in X-Wing

If you didn't know episode 3 of Rebels is free on iTunes. (The premier counted as episode 1 & 2.)

That looks a bit bigger than a falcon to me. Maybe about the size of the Rebel Transport. In the premier we saw that it's also about the same size as the Gozanti cruiser.

Which is kind of disappointing because I'm really liking the ship and it's crew. Though if it makes into X-Wing (which it probably will) it'll have to be in Epic only, which means it'll see a lot less play. :(

Actually, the premier was a movie, that's episode 2 (they call it Episode 2 on watchdisneyxd), but yea, after watching the episodes, Gonzatis look to small to be huges, and the Ghost looks to large to be a.. well large :D

I think it was listed as episode 3 on iTunes. lol there's a lot of confusion going on. The next episode. :P

But yeah if those ships make it into X-Wing I'll be very interested to see what size range they fit in at.

RoggueLieutenant YOU ROCK! I'm downloading it now!

:much respect: to Filoni and his team for paying that much attention to scale, though! I mean, I guess I've been preconditioned to disappointment from the halfway-to-random scaling that happens from scene to scene in the filmed movies, but this level of consistency is welcome!

As to scale...yeah, this kinda makes it a 'huge' ship. Maybe it'll be the first 'huge' ship with only a single base, that CAN be used in regular play, though? (On the other hand, as others have noted, we've seen the 'Ghost' do a K-turn on-screen, already, so...I guess it can't be more than a 'large'...wowzors...)

As to the Gozanti (the "Imperial Transport" in the episode) - I continue my belief that will be the first Imperial 'huge'. That it is smaller than the Rebel Transport is fine, as the Rebel Transport came with only 1x X-Wing, and I really expect the Imperial Transport would have two TIE Fighters, so...makes up for a smaller size, IMHO!

THANK YOU SO MUCH ROGUELIEUTENANT! That was a very interesting episode.

This episode was REALLY good. I f*cking love this show!

This is the size of the Rebels ships (official sizes, all at the same scale):

I don't know where it's meant to fit clearly too big for regular play but not big enough for epic, you could scale it down a bit but do rebels need yet another turret ship?

So long as it offers something different? Yes. Absolutely.

I saw someone suggest that it have a front and aux firing arc with the ability to take a turret upgrade, thus "limiting" the 360 to range 1-2.

Would have to be pretty **** expensive points-wise though, I think.

I would make it forward and backwards firing arc, with the Cannon Upgrade that only works in the backwards firing arc.

I'm more interested in the ewar capabilities than the turrets, it's based on a WWII bomber, should have arcs, but regardless, thst thing snuck up on an ISD.

Exact point I made earlier. This thing should have awesome scrambling cards or something.

I haven't actually seen the episode yet, so I could be way off base on what exactly the situation is, but that really seems like the sort of thing that is way outside the scope of this game. I mean, basically every fringe ship is going to have the ability to falsify transponder signals to make it look like a different ship. The falcon was identified at the death star by its physical markings, not its ID code. Once an actual engagement begins (i.e. just before the start of the game) the enemy is going to know who is hostile and who isn't and they aren't going to loose track of that during a dog fight.

Ghost stealth discussion, spoilers for the pilot.

while transponder muckery was stated as one of the ghost's abilities within the course of the pilot the ghost docked with an ISD in the hanger and the first notice the captain had was the alarms and blaster fire inside the ship. The ghost also exhibited the ability to scramble or jam the ISD tractor beam as it flew back out. As an interesting add on hyper calculations happen real fast and it seems that the ship can change destination while still in hyperspace.

That is one absurdly capable ship.

Seriously. At least we know why it's so fat / how it's making use of all that space.

That's some serious high tech electronics warfare package the Ghost is carrying. I wonder how that will translate to XWMG.

The Gozanti easily fits as huge, but the Ghost is really odd. I think if they do it, it should be large but they'll need a different peg to support the model. I like melminiatures idea for auxiliary arcs and a turret slot, that would really distinguish it from the rebel YTs. I think It should have 3 crew as well.

probably me, I've posted that idea a couple times in Rebels threads.

The Ghost could be an interesting mix of epic and large having some of the e-war capabilities of the Rebel Transport but in a very overhanging (unless they scale it down a touch) large base ship.

The ship's a Mary sue like the cast.

A ship transponder is just a public broadcast of which ship it is. It's like a liscence plate. If you are shady, you have a number of different transponders on your ship that you change, like a merchant flying through waters with different privateers. Or the ferryman in "The Outlaw Jessie Wales" who says, "I've had to learn to whistle the Battle Hymn of the Republic and Dixie with equal enthusiasim."

As for changing course while at light speed, I wondered about that. They didn't show it. It could be that they just dropped out and recalculated. I was curious if it were possible.

It looks the same size as the Falcon. Maybe a little bulkier. Also, any ship can be Epic, so you can't say it's too small for Epic. An A-wing can do epic.

Don't start none, won't be none.

Why does everyone assume the Ghost will even be in X-wing? It strikes me pretty funny based on statements made by FFG, it doesn't seem likely to turn up for a while.
