So I'm looking to do the hoth campaign again, and i've had some crazy ideas. I also have a simple question about reinforcements.

Firstly crazy idea. Can I take the CR90 as part of the rebel defence fleet? I mean what an escort, right?

Secondly in the case of destroyed imperial ships with HLCs, ordnance etc. Do their reinforcement ships keep the sweet mods?

Hi, regarding your reinforcement question, I'd say you don't get the upgrade cards. The text on this reads as follows:

"...For each reinforcement, he takes the lowest-cost Ship card that matches the destroyed ship's type and places it outside the play area"

No mention of upgrade cards.

Re the CR90, not sure, but you'd need to keep in mind the epic points to keep things balanced.

I think you could bring the CR90 in the Rebels roster but is it a good idea?

You only have 200 points to build your roster and the CR90 is 90 points without any upgrade cards already.

That will greatly limit your squad building options.

Not to mention, most missions give you only 125 points to build your rebel squad, so you will only be able to field the transport with the CR90 as escort. Good luck with that...

Yeah, not saying the CR90 is a good idea. Just wanted to try it for the lol's. I know how to powergame my lists, I just try my best not to. (Ok, that's not really true, but I try to limit my use of Echo+sensors+acd as my friends cry about her).

I know the mission doesn't say anything about the cards, that's why I'm asking. I can see the logic behind a yes and a no, the no being - well it's not mentioned so why. The yes being "But what's the point without?" I suppose I could rule it either way.

Reinforcements are not 'paid for ships' as such. If this was the case the would just be straight replacements of the ship and pilot that was lost, they are the base level of each ship, and nothing more. I'm pretty sure it would state "take the ship card and any assigned upgrade cards..." or something like that.
