Dark Charm + Stunned

By veector, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

A hero has been stunned by a prior effect.

The Overlord uses Dark Charm on that hero.

Is the Overlord allowed to use the hero to do anything?

Since the OL can't remove the stunned condition, does the card still take effect OR because of the magic of Dark Charm, it doesn't matter and the OL can take a move or attack action as indicated.

We sided on the second one, OL can ignore the stunned condition when using Dark Charm.

This question was on BGG recently. I responded (and still believe) that the OL can ignore stun. The text of stun states that the only action you can perform "on your turn" while you have stun is to discard stun. Since Dark Charm takes place outside the stunned hero's turn, I don't think it applies.

Keep in mind that this interpretation also opens the door for heroes who have special abilities that involve actions used outside of their own turn to ignore Stun as well. (ie: One Fist, Tahlia, Syndrael using her power on a Stunned hero.)

I'm not saying I disagree with you, though. =P

Understood- if the text on the stun card were, "As an action, discard this card. This is the only action you can take while you have this card", that would be different. The clarification "during your turn" (to me,) limits it to to a particular time window. An immobilized hero certainly couldn't do a DC move action, though, because there's not such time specification. Just a plain, simple "you cannot perform move actions while you have this card."

Response from FFG:

Hi Tahsin,

Good question. Your interpretation was correct, the overlord does get to perform the action.

Thanks for playing!
