Using the phrase, "During the Combat phase..." on this card seems to just be used in order to single out Corran Horn's ability, but just to be on the safe side...

When exactly during the Combat Phase can this ability be triggered? Can I choose to trigger this prior to any attacks in the phase, even if I am using a ship with a low pilot skill value?

It's in lieu of performing an attack. So it's whenever that ship would attack.

Yeah, you use it in stead of making a normal attack, which will be some time during the combat phase. It really doesn't have anything to do with Coran since he cannot equip illicit upgrades. They are just being precise.

Corran's our only option for attacking outside the phase at the moment, but that doesn't mean there aren't other abilities waiting in the wings. They may have one in the pipe, or it may just be precautionary... with the number of Scum ships that are getting the Illicit slot, they probably have to approach it similarly to modifications, and assume that it can combo with everything.

At first, I interpreted the card the same way. However, it doesn't explicitly state anything about needing to be able to perform an attack. It just says "instead of performing an attack". Think of it this way: if you don't have an enemy ship in your firing arc at Range 1-3, then instead of performing an attack, you do not perform an attack.

And, it states that you choose any enemy ship at Range 1, without saying anything about a ship in your firing arc. Plus, the image shows an enemy ship that is behind an ionized ship. So, I think that the ability to perform an attack does not factor into it at all.

It comes with the IG-2000 which can put up with that sort of drama. Wouldn't surprise me if one of it's pilots is able to remove an ion token somehow to compensate. Plus it takes two tokens on one of those to ionise it. Might not be all bad on the right ship.

I think the z95 is the one with the feedback array, and the TIE Defender is the one suffering feedback, not ion

Mmmh i think the question here is, why I must wait to not doing a regular attack to be able to use this card?if that is the cae why this card is not written like "[ATTACK]: ...."? and it is just saying that allows me to do an effect instead of attacking,... that is different.

I think this card effect could be triggered if dont have any enemy in arc of fire or range.

This is another case of do what the card says and don't do what it doesn't say.

There is no mention of Arc, so arc doesn't matter. It does mention range so the target of this card has to be in range 1.

Honestly this card is like a cheap non-crew version of Darth Vader. I'd use it the same way I would that.

Yeah this is a '****, I'm out of arc. Ah well, I'll risk a little to deal one GUARANTEED damage' card.

If you need to finish something off, but couldn't get in arc, then this is your option.

I also note it is a shame you can;t run this in concert with Dead Man's Switch. That would be comedy, here I'm on 1 hull. Have a damage, oh and look a second!

I'm with those in the card wording camp; it doesn't have the header Attack:, it just states it goes off during the combat phase. If you've already attacked, you can't use it that combat phase. If you haven't attacked yet, you can make the card go off any time you want, even before a higher PS has the opportunity to shoot at you... a clutch move if they only have one hull left. I could see it being advantageous as well to wait until your ships' attack turn, to see if a primary attack is in your best interest, or FA.

That is correct. Bombs also deal damage without dealing hits, and do not strip Stealth Device

The fact that it is lacking an Attack header simply means that it is not considered an attack, nor is it considered a secondary weapon. This has a couple implications:

• It would not clear a Blinded Pilot crit ("The next time you attack, do not roll any attack dice. Then flip this card facedown.").
• It would not be affected by a Munitions Failure crit ("Immediately choose 1 of your secondary weapon upgrade cards and discard it. Then flip this card facedown.")
• You also cannot trigger Vader crew with it (I know, they aren't in the same faction so it's kind of a moot point).
• Etc...

Why Feedback Array is awesome:

1) No Arc

- You can 'attack' any ship at Range 1, including one you are in contact with, or even one that is completely outside your arc. This goes hand in hand with blockers, as they are often sacrificing the ability to shoot to hamper the enemies movement ability.

2) Guaranteed Damage

-Why is Vader awesome? Because he always damages the enemy, even at the cost of taking damage yourself. Want to finish off that 1 HP enemy? Feedback it.

-Phantoms will end up hating this. 4 HP total makes even a single hit very dangerous.

3) It's cheap.

-Doomshuttle can get a bit expensive for a suicide ship. Z-95 with Feedback is 14 points. Fly 2 of these in a list and your opponent has a hard time choosing whether he should kill the wimpy Zs or focus on the meat of the list. Plus if the two get into range 1 of a phantom it's shields are all gone. PS is a problem? It can go up to PS7 for just 19pts (admittedly at the waste of a good Pilot Skill).

What its saying is "when you would attack during the combat phase you may do X (zap someone) instead of Y (shoot your guns at someone)"

You cant replace something that hasn't had a chance to happen yet.
