Finished Beyond the Rim module, my final thoughts.

By Atraangelis, in Game Masters

Well my group finally finished Beyond the Rim,

First off, its a excellent starting module over all, but there we some rough encounters very difficult for a GM to juggle.

Some areas of concern when running the module.

The attack on the compound, and timing of the arrival of the Ye-Yar in chapter 2. THis was a complicated scene with almost a three way engagement, possibly 4 way if you consider the survivors. Very confusing and difficult to pull of.

Attack on Scrap point by the Yeyar. THis is a loophole in the module. Nowhere did i find how the YeYar would find scrappoint but they would still manage to show up as the final antagonist.

I totally omited the imperial presence at Scrappoint as it added a second layer of difficulty to the encounter. This encounter could have devolved into a 3 way engagement again with imps yeyar and PC's, with an over layer of trying to repair the Runner. I used the imperials in chapter 2 as my Imp encounter for the module to encourage the players to get off planet...

Any one else have problems with the module in certain areas?

I have yet to do episode two (doing it this saturday), but the Yiyar clan should appear after the players finish searching the ship for a day, and maybe even tangling with a cybernexu in the ship. WHenever it is dramatically appropriate, or the players start getting bored and restless.

The Yiyar clan learns about scrap heap point, and the droid when they raid Reom's office and wound him. The Sullesten of Yiyar Salvage, TooLow, is the one that goes there hoping to catch the players there and attack IsoTech.

For my adventure the only encounter with the Imperials is the Droid planting the homing beacon, and when they attack the survivor base. It is case of the ISB not having enough resources at the time to take care of the threat when it is needed. In Episode 3, i have TooLow working with a pirate in the sector that the players have encountered before. The Pirate lends air support while TooLow provides the ground forces
