I was fooling around with Oggdude's character generator (great piece of work) and tried to add 2 Implant Armors to a character so I could get 2 points of soak....got tired of getting shot
. The character generator would only allow 1 Armor added. I looked in the CRB to see if there was a limit to how many I could take and, other than the Brawn limit, could not find any. Is there a rule stating what the limit is for Implant Armor?

Similar sources of soak do not stack (gee, I alliterated). That's probably why.
Just for reference, this is from FaD CRB, page 150:
Just for reference, this is from FaD CRB, page 150:
Soak stacks when it is from different sources, such as heavy assault armor and subdermal plating. Multiple applications of the same source do not stack, however. A character cannot wear three suits of heavy assault armor and stack the soak bonuses from each.
Oh well, just 6 soak instead of 7. Thanks, I missed that bit.

Use talents.
Unfortunately that's a bit down the line XP wise. My character is the Ace Pilot class from AoR with the Recruit tree as well. The only Enduring I currently have access to is at the bottom of the Recruit tree, 100xp away minimum. It's going to take much more than that, xp wise, because I don't want to ignore my other talent tree and skills.
Six Soak is fairly impressive for a Pilot, there is little need for more unless you're finding yourself being brought near death often. Picking up a few, or even a lot, of wounds during combat is okay as long as you find yourself walking away from it. Criticals are what kills you, Wounds you walk off or Medpack off as the case may be.
You also should be using cover. so you don't get shot in the first place.

I have. It's just that one black die you get for cover has done squat for me the way my GM has been rolling when I get shot at. :-)

Ace Gunner will give you Enduring for only 30 (muticlassing) + 40 XP, with a choice of using Overwelm Defenses while in the cockpit, or getting some Toughened aand Durable to go with your Enduring. And 55 XP more gives another rank eac of Toughened, Durable and Enduring.

better cover so you get 2 setback. also armor with defense.
Edited by DaeglanThe other thing to do is run away. There are plenty of times that our favorite SW heroes saw that the odds were stacked against them and so they ran away, or surrendered and then escaped later.

Of course you could...use alternative solutions that do not involve shooting. Then you get shot less. Work smarter.

Armor defense and cover don't stack. You get one or the other. Although, a "good GM" will target priority based upon threat and ease of shot. If someone else is in the open, they are probably more likely to get shot at.

Why wouldn't they stack? They are from different sources.
They changed cover to give a ranged defense of 1, rather than give +1 ranged defense. If you already have a ranged defense of 1, it doesn't do you any good.
I believe Guarded Stance still gives +1 melee defense, however.

It's been discussed a lot and confirmed by FFG, depending on who you talk to you'll get different opinions but it basically breaks down to a game mechanic that doesn't always make sense but it helps keep combat balanced.
When you wear Heavy Armor you are actually buying Mobility on the battlefield, plus an extra Maneuver or two during the Encounter. A Heavily armored PC can ignore cover and move about freely, they are essentially carrying their cover with them, whereas lightly armored PCs must use Cover to gain the same effect.
It also, in my opinion, allows players to play what we see in the films without being too outclassed by PCs with Heavy armor.

Go for the Superior modification. That should give you implant armor with Soak 2. But that’s as far as you will get with implant armor.

Don't think you can mod cybernetics as they have no HPs.

You are correct. You can’t get attachments and modifications to implant armor.
But, if your GM agrees, you could be able to get Superior Quality Implant Armor that would give you +2 Soak. There’s nothing in the armor description or rules that would prevent you from being able to get equipment that is inherently Superior.
Of course, you’d pay out the wazoo for such equipment, but you should theoretically be able to get it — if your GM agrees.
Or if your GM is stickler for the RAW, pick up Outlaw Tech and grab it's two low hanging Tinkerers. Slap a Hard Point onto that Implant Armor and voilà Bob's your uncle.

This should work ^. Stickler or not if there is already a way to do it using existing RAW then use that, even if it's difficult, expensive in EXP, or a stretch. I always advise House Ruling or Hand Waving only if you have too.

Or if like my group you decide not giving all equipment Hard Points was simply a really stupid oversight on the Designers part, you give all equipment a Hard Point or two based on expense and Encumbrance. This should work ^.
