EVERYONE should be a big fan of Sabine...
She's my animated counterpart ... kind of like my very own Max Headroom.
Wow .. I just dated myself.

Isn't Waifu the word for your Anime wife? Texas doesn't allow that yet, lol.
I mean that if my 15 year old self were animated, Sabine would be the result .. totally different lol.
In the first episode, Hera can be heard to say "what's up hon?" to Kanan when he comes in.
Kids were watching it again last night so naturally I joined them. ![]()
But this time it sounds like she called him love when he first walked in, not hon.
I loathe how many shows feel the need to constantly build romantic tension with "will they, wont they" crap. Sure, there is a place for that kind of story telling, but sometimes it is just nice to see some folks in love and happy. I'm happy that we're seeing less of the tension and more exploration of how to make on screen romance interesting without it.
I totally agree! One of the things that I used to love about Firefly was the relationship between Zoe and Wash. Having Kanan and Hera together also creates the feel of family that you can see Sabine values so much in the crew. It's really a quaint way of having all the characters together and strongly bonded to a single cause.
It also heightens the tensions with Kanan being a Jedi, potentially losing a husband/father figure at any moment and explains why none of the crew would ever betray him regardless of the size of the bounty.
I hadn't really considered that. Hrm, yeh. It is a solid way to make the bounty a never ever choice.
I also like that it may lead back to one thing I liked from the EU, which was Luke revising the whole "no attachments" thing. Not really speaking any specifics, but I always liked that the NJO was an evolution of of the Jedi ways, not a strict re-implementation.
On the Firefly front, that is one of the things I adored about the storytelling. They had basically every major type of relationship dynamic going on. The comfy old shoe vibe from Wash and Zoe, the burgeoning romance between Simon and Kaylee, the will they wont they hate/love of Mal and Inara, and the fierce quiet overcomes all evil ('cept his own, obv) of Jayne's love of himself.
Jayne didn't just love himself. He loved another female on the ship. Her name was Vera. ![]()

I hear that Texas is looking to outlaw becoming your 15-year-old anime self as well. Isn't that part of Greg Abbott's platform?

Yes, I caught that too, while watching it with my wife. It does sound like they are an out-of-the-closet bi-species couple. I wonder if that's going to become an issue in future episodes, where an Imperial propagandist is going to relate different-species relationships to treason against the Empire, to further crack down on different-species relationships.
Or would that not be very Disney?

*16, and if you were 15 you'd be Ezra then lol.
Waifu extends beyond the animu. Far, far beyond.

It could be done. To ask one's self if something is very disney or not is a bit hard to do, considering Disney has attacked many a brusque, dark theme before.
Does anyone else think the Hera animation looks a little bulky? Like her legs look like she is wearing very baggy pants or has some pounds on them.
It would take a lot more than a year of age to make me Ezra though with today's medical procedures who knows?
As for the Waifu .. still creepy and getting creepier!
