slightly OT: and....... at 3.

By Spaceman91, in X-Wing

Hi everybody.....

Someone on another site asked an interesting question:

What are your top 3 ships? Not top 3 imp and top 3 rebel but top 3 of all ( including transport and corvette ).

Mine:

X-wing: its a work horse and it still gets the job done 4 waves on.

Tie interceptor: let's be honest, when you give this ship to someone who is top class it is almost uncatchable. Soontir Fel takes top spot for pilot in my book aswell.

B-wing: Its a tank! May only have one evade die but this thing just keeps chugging on. Brutal attacks and customisable means that its got to be on the list.

Honourable mention: A-wing: It's not as hard hitting as its sister the Tie/Int but still a solid ship. Slightly unloved but used right, a fine ship.

So your turn....

( bonus internet points for any one who got the top of the pops reference )

Edit: out of interest the tie interceptor is in every posts top 2 on the other site.

According to my squadron's builder winrate %.

Obsidian pilots

Bandit squadron pilots

Rookie pilot

Therefore,

1. Tie Fighter

2. Z95

3. Xwing.

Obsidian? That recent ( I'm looking at you predator ) or always preferred the higher ps?

Mine's going to look awfully similar to yours, Spaceman.

X-Wing: like you said, it's a workhorse.

TIE Interceptor: Fel, Phennir, and Lorrir. When you fly 'em right...

Y-Wing: 'nuff said.

Honorable mentions: Z-95 Headhunter and TIE Bomber. I haven't gotten the chance to get a second of either yet...

I still love my

  1. bombers,
  2. Interceptors, and
  3. I think the Transport is great fun!

Ask me again tomorrow, and I might have a different list.

Obsidians are the PS3. I only play them on the 8 Tie swarm list, so they got a 100% winrate ;P

Z's and X's are on the XXXZZZ, which i also have a ridiculous winrate.

1. Phantom. Every time I use it I feel like I'm cheating.

2. Interceptor. Soontir Fel. "Nuff said.

3. TIE fighter. It's just a solid, reliable workhorse that turns up in almost all of my Imperial lists.

It's funny, that makes it seem like I never play Rebels, but I actually play them as often as Imperials- all their ships feel kind of middle-of-the-road though. Except maybe the Falcon, but I have yet to use that.

1) defender

2) firespray

3) tie fighter

All have served me very well.

3. Firespray

Hits heavy, lasts long, and the auxiliary arc and good dial makes it a forgiving ship.

2. Shuttle

Often under estimated, the shuttle is sturdy, affordable, and can be kitted out in many different ways. The best part is my opponents' reactions to the unexpected, patient, and surprising movements.

1. TIE Phantom

The nostalgic reason I'm playing the game at all turned out to be enormously fun to fly. I love movement and the Phantom delivers. The ladies is as toothsome as they are winsome.

1) Defender/Interceptor

2) HWK-290

3) Firespray-31

1: HWK-290, bar none.

2: X-Wing, of course.

3: Well. Honestly. I've only actually used the two above successfully. However I'm just going to put Z-95 here because I've got a particular love affair with that ship.

1: Y-Wing

I've got a pretty good handle on maneuvering this baby, and the durability and flexibility is extremely useful.

2: TIE Interceptor

Love the mobility and firepower, and "If I'm Not There, They Can't Hit Me" has been my default tactic for over a decade.

3: Lambda Shuttle

Pretty well the same reasons as the Y-Wing.

1 X-Wing still see Yoda lifting it.

2 Interceptor remember **** the Empire finally got a cool looking starfighter.

3 Phantom/Echo that is so fun to fly.

Well:

Fat Falcon

B-wing with FSC, tactician, and Ion Cannon (my new favorite ship, it is hideously effective at board control)

Y-wing with ion turret and R4D6. (With all the lists that throw 3+ dice per ship, I have nociced that this 1 point astromech is now worth its weight in gold. It stops at least 2-4 shots a game, and flubbing defense rolls doesn't hurt as much now.

(Fourth place would be YT-2400 with HLC, Lone Wolf, and Flight instructor.)

#1 - Firespray. Definitely my favorite ship in the game.

#2 - Defender. Fell in love with it in my first Imdaar final.

#3 - B-Wing. Along with the X-Wing, it's the workhorse of the Rebel fleet. But it is so much more customizable.

Wow, you basically read my mind on what I consider as the best ships.

1. X-wing: Wedge, Wes, and Luke will continue to show up for the foreseeable future. The X-wing itself is stout enough to survive getting into a scrap when it is outnumbered! Astromech slot? You know it! Me and those little droids have been through a lot together!

2. B-wing: I mainly run the generic pilots to save on points. I have loved that systems slot since the first time I used FCS!

3. TIE Interceptor: I don't always run Imperial forces, but when I do, I run a PTL Turr Phennir. Focus, shoot, boost, barrel roll, stress green maneuver, repeat. He is the embodiment of MC Hammer's greatest hit "can't touch this". Also, the Baron. Because nothing gets the blood pumping like a duel between him and Wedge. I have been on both sides of this and it is still so very awesome.

Honorable mention: Z-95 Headhunter. After wave 4 dropped, I was in a bind trying to figure out how to fill out lists that had 12 points that I didn't want to spend on upgrades. I wanted/needed a 4th ship to be better off with how I fly. If any single ship in this game has changed some of my lists for the better, the lowly Bandit Sqd Pilot was just that. The single Z-95 I own has been in 100% of my rebel lists since late August and has pulled through for me enough times that I refer to him as my "hero Bandit".

E-Wing... bling it up to 50+ points and enjoy yourself!

X-Wing... name of the game!

Falcon!

I run mostly Rebel ships so..

1.) B-Wing. Even if I lose, when I play a list with at least one B-Wing flying in it it is almost always the last ship to go, and on more than one occasion it's almost clinched it for me. Be it a named pilot with some skill or a 22 point Blue Squadron nobody, B-Wing's bring it to the fight.

2.) HWK. I enjoy the utility I know Jan isn't popular but I've used her to great effect. Slap an ion turret on her and she can fly around boosting attacks and helping control your opponents no matter where her front fire arc is.

3.) Y-Wing. Horton Salm. 2x Torpedos. Jan boosts that up to 5. Roll any blanks? REROLL! Flip an eyeball to crit. Sure, it doesn't always pay off, but when it does even your opponent will celebrate the resulting explosion.

1) Firespray - Fun, and require more skill than the turreted big ships *cough cough*

2) Phantom - Super powerful and maneuverable, even though I also feel dirty using it

3) X-wing - Can't beat the orginal

In no particular order:

Firespray

TIE Interceptor

TIE Defender (recently overtook the Bomber's top 3 spot, I love the underdogs of the meta)

I don't play rebels much, but The B-wing wins, hands down.

1. TIE Fighter

2. Lambda

3. Phantom

Similarly, in no particular order:

B Wing - powerful enough even when naked, but SO many customisation options

TIE Interceptor - the best looking ship in the game. The embodiment of speed and firepower

The Falcon - not because of the turret, but because it's THE FALCON!

Honourable mentions to the 2 workhorses/icons - the TIE and the X Wing
