STAR WARS REBELS ship screen captures

What Star Wars Rebels could have been,

If not for Disney's goal of domination by their animation style.

Whew, bullet dodged there...

I think that trailer is awesome, but you're not going to see a weekly TV show using that level of animation for a very long time. It's too costly and time intensive to render for the kind of timetables that television shows have to employ.

It's also not Disney's style, it's Lucasfilm's from the Clone Wars cartoon. As styles go I think the current one is a pretty good blend of cartoon-ish characters and nice, hard-model looking FX shots like the ones we've been enjoying.

Clone wars was also very stylized with the characters. That looks more 'realistic' which is boring and too often approaches uncanny valley areas

This is looking very very very good.

I'm so tempted to patch together a shot with just the B-wing in it.

...since they are moving it's all visible at one point or the next.

Gabe, you're a saint.

I'm SO hyped for this.

I'm SO hyped for this.

I can't wait either, Seeing Vader charge into a squadron of A-wing and take on a CR90 Corvette head on is pretty bad ass, and I'm going to be loving that battle.

Why does that bwing have a cockpit on both ends? Is that an early prototype?

That's not a crew position. It's a weapons pod.

It is a pretty big weapons pod, proportionally.

It may actually be a gunner's pod. http://www.imperialshipyards.net/SMF/index.php?topic=5110.0 scroll down till you see the B-wing with the concept B-wing, the Rebels one looks like a combination of the two. If you go down further you'll find the concept AT-ATs as well.

You're referring to the H-60 Tempest bomber, that does have 2 crew,

but this ship has the B-wing's fold out T wings.

The engine sections are also very different and also B-wing.

And the body is cut like a B-wing, and not as thin as the H-60.

And I just don't see a cockpit at that end either.

So now A-wings AND B-wings are canon before the OT starts? That's gonna make EU purists upset...

Not A-Wings, and that B-Wing is a prototype, looks like. Lot of aesthetic differences.

We can still call those A-Wings R-22 spearheads. maybe.

They're labelled A-wings in the concept art, and changes in the B-wing are probably to match the RMQ drawings.

Odd then, that there are such a wild array of structural differences...

...Mind you, if the R-22 can be retconned out and this is just a prototype A-Wing design then I have no problem with that.

The A-wing matches the Ralph McQuarrie concept drawing depicted on Prototype Pilot. Any structural differences are repeated on that art.
