The A-wing matches the Ralph McQuarrie concept drawing depicted on Prototype Pilot. Any structural differences are repeated on that art.
Hey, I know that. I'm just saying.

Gabe, you're a saint.
I'm SO hyped for this.
I can't wait either, Seeing Vader charge into a squadron of A-wing and take on a CR90 Corvette head on is pretty bad ass, and I'm going to be loving that battle.
It's not a CR90. It's bigger, and surrounded by CR90s.

Yeah, it's a Pelta.

I'm talking about the image up a bit in the forum
where he is literally taking on a CR90 Corvette head on.
You might have missed that one.
You'll notice the Pelta-Class frigate in the episode doesn't
have a speck of blue on it, but a lot of the CR90s do.
I love the laser cannons on the sides. No intention of docking, just being a buff warship.

I had notice the guns, that I thought there might be a work-around for,
but not until I took a second look because you mentioned it did I notice
it might be possible to dock on the underside.
If they put the landing gear somewhere else,
or just weren't thinking about the landing gear.
The top one has all three painted with a red rings.
Edited by gabe69velasquezThey also have rectangular parts near the bottom/front that aren't standard. Hangars?

They actually are only very slightly bigger than the original.
It doesn't look like much on this set of deck plans
And the second one has #33 labeled as emergency power generators.
I can see why you think hangers though, I can see hinges for doors
Maybe not all of the A-wings came in the Pelta-Class frigate.
Oddly their B-wing is looking pretty accurate.
What the...what the HECK would B-Wings be doing 5 years before the Battle of Yavin..
Avoiding the need for the new canon to invent the R-22 Spearhead and the H-60 Tempest would be my guess. Both the craft I mentioned were created as retrocons to explain why craft that looked just like A-Wings and B-Wings were in use 15 years prior to A New Hope in the Droids cartoon, and A-Wing like craft were in use in the buildup to Yavin in the X-Wing PC game while West End Games and most of the EU said they were introduced in the aftermath of A New Hope.
In the new canon they just decided to have the A-Wings and B-Wings be a few years older,
That's what I liked about clone wars, while the faces were very rigid and stylized, the ships/vehicles were all accurate, and some of the fight scenes nearly rivaled the movies in quality of graphics.
I think the squatty tie fighters bother me more than the giraffe star destroyers.
Yeah I loved the space battle episodes in the early seasons. It suck that there were no real fleet battle focused episodes in the later seasons.
I wish they'd used other ship models than the Corvettes. Man, those things must be the Honda Civics of the skies...
Well even in the EU they are the most common small capital ships in the galaxy and civilian legal so easier for resistance movements to obtain then most capital ship models.
Still I agree with you. It just doesn't feel like a proper Rebel fleet to me without at least three or four visually distinct capital ship models. I had the same complaint about the early parts of the Alliance campaign in Empire at War.
Still they are addomg the Pelta class Frigates to the rebel forces in season two. And if we're lucky they will get some Corona class Armed Frigates, AKA rhe class of ship Hondo captained in the Clone Wars. And maybe we'll get to see the main crew helping hijack some Imperial warships for the resistance to use.
You're referring to the H-60 Tempest bomber, that does have 2 crew, but this ship has the B-wing's fold out T wings. The engine sections are also very different and also B-wing.And the body is cut like a B-wing, and not as thin as the H-60.And I just don't see a cockpit at that end either. It may actually be a gunner's pod. http://www.imperialshipyards.net/SMF/index.php?topic=5110.0 scroll down till you see the B-wing with the concept B-wing, the Rebels one looks like a combination of the two. If you go down further you'll find the concept AT-ATs as well.

If you zoom in on the picture you posted Gabe, I feel like you can clearly see a "cockpit" on the far end. It is reminiscent of the tempest with Bwing small wings. I think it is just the Rebel version of the RMQ drawing.
That just doesn't look like a cockpit to me
(it's missing the cross frame of the H-60),
but it doesn't look like a B-wing either.

He hits the Pelta too. Taking on a CR90 singlehandedly is fairly badass, he's taking on a small fleet of 'em.

Not following. How does it not look like a B-wing? If it's little details, check the RMQ drawing, they'll usually match to that.

looks like something in between the H-60 & B-Wing.
Sabine is taking a pretty painful shot there.......
I forgot to mention Chopper, he looks like a couple R2 concepts combined. His arms, the disc on his head, and his squat build especially, I'm not sure about the wheeled middle leg though. The speeder bikes look familiar too. I re-watched the episode with my Art of Star Wars books and kept looking things up. Even the color palete is McQuarrie's style.
Zeb's appearance is the prototype for Chewbacca. Chopper has manipulator arms in a similar position to that of the original R2-D2 concept art. Even the Ghost bears some resemblance to the concept for the original Corellian Corvette, which was going to be Han Solo's ship before the Falcon was created. If you Google for McQuarrie's drawings, you'll see some of the initial TIE Fighter sketch ups had them at that fat, awkward size.
Dave Filoni, the fellow running the show, lives for McQuarrie and his artwork and has pretty much met his life's objective by doing an animated feature rendered in the style of his personal hero and inspiration. There's at least an hours worth of youtube video's with Filoni discussing this in detail.
First time seeing this thread and the bit about the speeders has been driving me crazy.
The three speeders they use are the 614-AvA speeder bike (Kanan), Joben T-85 speeder bike (Ezra), and the Undicur-class jumpspeeder (Sabine).
Kanan's is based on concept art from Joe Johnston: http://filmsketchr.blogspot.com/2013/10/star-wars-episode-vi-return-of-jedi.html
As far as I know, Ezra's doesn't have a previous basis though it does seems a bit in between the swoops from Shadows of the Empire the Imperial bikes from VI.
Sabine's was actually in The Clone Wars "The Ghost of Mortis" being used by Kenobi, Skywalker, and Tano. I've not found any previous mention of it in concept art so far.
Anyone know anything else about Ezra and Sabine's and whether they can be traced to any older concept art?
Sabine is taking a pretty painful shot there.......
And now it comes to mind, because of having seen this video,
I imagine him asking her "Are you an angel?"

These double barrel rolls, 1 Koiogran turns, and flying backwards that Vader is doing. I doubt we'll see that in the game, but the first is possible, if Vader were ever able to have two system slots (or sacrificing the ATC), with Advanced Sensors:
Maneuver, Barrel Roll, Attack.
Barrel Roll Maneuver, Attack.

LOL,
because they are just so willing to move every thread that was created before the sub-thread was creaded sure.
What Star Wars Rebels could have been,
If not for Disney's goal of domination by their animation style.
Whew, bullet dodged there...
I think that trailer is awesome, but you're not going to see a weekly TV show using that level of animation for a very long time. It's too costly and time intensive to render for the kind of timetables that television shows have to employ.
That reminds me. Anyone else spot this downed ship right away and recognize immediately also.
