STAR WARS REBELS ship screen captures

With that array at the top it could easily be an ISD-I pre-refit.

Or just a stylized ISD.

Wow I just noticed it doesn't have the trenches down the sides either, it must be its own class.

I'm pretty sure it's not intended to be a different class than the I or II.

I honestly don't think they've done the research to align it with what was established in the EU, even where the EU was just fleshing out (or trying to make sense of) what was presented in the OT.

There are a TON of SW fans who really could care less about the specific details that people like me really care about. Also, to what degree is mastery of every EU detail going to be a hiring requirement for animators? I just doubt that it's there, which is why we will see a LOT of misalignment on these small details.

I certainly find it annoying, but I'm not going to cry in my beer over it. I had that experience over the Warhammer World in the 1990s. The corporations governing the IPs don't think that the investment into the minute details is worth the dividends, and - I'm not sure I can really blame them for that. (Trust me, it hurts to realize that, but I'm in the 'acceptance' stage of grief.)

No.. PEW PEW.. is not a thing.. it's ... ghastly.. I hate that with all my being, nothing goes pew and as adults, shame for even uttering the words.

*Clears throat* "Pew Pew Pew, KaBOOooommmmm!" :)

they are using a lot of the concept art from the original trilogy.

for instance, Zeb looks like the original concept for the wookie

also, the smugglers droids looked like the original assassin droids meant to be IG88

No soup for you..

But, for nice kaboom.... you get pepsi..

Ghosts and Gozantis... psh...

I want a Star Commuter Shuttle ST-45.

Anyone else notice the little dome on the underside, is that what I think it is?

InterdictorClassSD-EGTW.jpg

maybe not.

I think it's already been said, but worth repeating,

we're probably expecting too much realism from a cartoon.

Best shot of the attack shuttle so far. 15287639567_9776af7b7b_o.jpg

Aside from the concept art

Phantom_Attack_Shuttle.jpg

So I'm wondering now it FFG can make a detachable miniature for the attack shuttle, with it's own small base.

That's the one thing that makes me think they might actually develop a carrier mechanic. Both the ghost and the gozanti could make use of it.

Chances are the TIE pilot does have oxygen tanks at least. It's just not... Well, totally pressurized and whatnot, or something.

A suit like that can't carry enough oxygen for an operation. At all.

That's why Obi-Wan calls them short range fighters in ANH. Basically every source of canon (I know it's "legends" now) states that they have no oxygen inside, until the appearances in Rebels.

It might be noteworthy that we saw the TIEs in atmospheric operation and the rebels, but not the rebels in space with them.

In the X-wing book series Wedge and Wraith Squadron do a lot of time in both TIE/Lns and TIE/Ins. Multiple times it is noted that pilots carry tanks of air with them and must switch them out appropriately. At one point Shalla falls asleep and wakes up with her tank almost empty, causing her to thing that "That would have been a really stupid way to die."

Haha. Nice.

I'm no ISD expert, but it does look like it should have a class name of it's own.

yup, I'm not obsessed with ISD so sue me. Besides if you're not looking it's easy to miss as it's rather small in comparison to the 16 kilometer long body, and in the close up next to Ghost it looks huge. And because of that it reminded me of the Immobilizer.

Holy **** you're defensive.

Also 16km? Um. I think you mean 1.6km. Definitely that.

Holy **** you're defensive.

I don't even think ISD are worth talking about as we will never see them in the game,

but I was being nice. I guess you must have a problem with nice.

I see their aim is bad as ever...

Well since the rebels complained that the Imperials were broken so they had to add 30 degrees to every shot in an effort to balance the war.

Holy **** you're defensive.

So you're saying pointing out my mistake after I have admitted I was wrong isn't making fun of me?

I'm afraid not. It's just there because the reactor is too big for the ISD's frame.

There are three Gozanti in this scene. I'm getting the impression that in this era they are the Imperial "multi-purpose vessels."

Or maybe a box set with 2 separate models.

That's a ludicrous design flaw as it makes for a pretty obvious vulnerability and juicy target for attacking ships. Is that a canon requirement for Imperials, all of their ships have to have ludicrous design vulnerabilities?

But they do have a ton of armor there, especially the deuces.

I wonder if this was the inspiration.

Thing you have to remember is if your fighters in range to launch torps at the ISD your in range to get pummled by multiple laser and ion canons as well as its own launchers, I remember in x-wing and in tie fighter going against a star destroyer always made you clench up.

Tector Class SDs are up armored and have internal reactors to fix the design flaw. You can actually see a couple of them in RotJ.

I don't know what the source books say, but I always imagined that bulge on the belly of the ISD being a sensor or antenna array. we see similar things on modern combat vessels and aircraft. It would also help them "see" under the ship, which would be invaluable in docking operations.
