STAR WARS REBELS ship screen captures

Fantastic! Ghost wave 7? ^__^
It's official, I DO have a problem with those ISD "Giraffe" class destroyers.
The rest looks nice...
My only beef thus far are the star destroyer. It's entirely wrong. And, no, that is not a Victory -class.
The necks are too long, and the hangar bays are off.
But, I'm probably the only ....
Oh, I see Jehan Menasis has a beef too.
Lasers have recoil?
That's very implausible.
I watched the whole thing and I kept thinking "Wow, Disney's animation standards have really slid on this one".
Did they even spring for a person to match up the animation with the spoken dialogue... It's almost like watching a translated movie the dubbing is so off.
And the Wookies were hairy but had no texture. It was like watching tall brown cylinders that growled....

The pudgy TIEs don't bother you?
I think this miniature is going to look deadly. 360 HCL turret without needing a title card.

If I remember correctly the turbolasers did the same thing in the original trilogy.
If you want to get technical, at the speed that light travels, should we even be able to follow the bursts.

I think you mistake what you're seeing as 'lasers'. Blasters are not lasers. But which are you specifically looking at?

They haven't... but maybe they will now that you've pointed them out to me.
I think we need to live with the notion that there's a certain... impressionism? to this series.
Edited by Mikael HasselsteinPersonally, I'm pleased as punch with the Gozanti cruiser variant - looks much better in practice than I expected (LOVE the view of it from underneath, entering the ISD hangar).
VERY MUCH hope we get that as the Imperial 'huge' in X-Wing!
This is the one I saw that I objected to.
Note the recoil before the shot?
Edited by SergovanI believe it's based off of the Ralph McQuarrie concept art.
Means the Y-wings will probably look like this:
The Episode 4 and 5 concept art looks very different to the final project: the AT-ATs and Snowspeeders for example changed hugely between concept and production. RotJ stuff is pretty much unchanged though: Prototype Pilot's art is the Ralph McQuarrie concept picture.
This is the one I saw that I objected to.
Do you object to this?
The actual in-universe reason is that they're not actually lasers, they're blasters: they shoot plasma.
Edited by TIE PilotOh the pain! Those Giraffe Destroyers, and Tie Obeses kill my eyes!
If we get the Ghost , it's probably going to be a Decimator size-range model. And I imagine that we would get a Gozanti, too. And, yes, like the Clone Wars, things will look a little different then what we're used to. But Artoo and Threepio look a wee bit different in the prequels, so everyone should survive this as well.

Actually I don't have a problem with the ISD look. The one shown in Rebels is at least 5 years older than the ones we're familiar with from the movies. The way I look at it is the newer models have either 1: had a refit or 2: a redesign to the newer look. As an example, let's take a look at a US battleship before and after a refit:
USS Arizona, 1920
USS Arizona, 1930's
Same ship, different look.
I actually enjoyed the art style, because of how much it reminded me of Ralph McQuarrie's work. Not just the designs, but in the color choices for certain scenes.
The Imperial
Giraffe
-class Star Destroyers don't really bother me much. They're inspired by this:
I can see Giraffe -class totally sticking.

That's a good way to rationalize it, and since the EU is gone, the earlier explanation of the difference between the Devastator from ANH model and the Avenger model from ESB, is no longer canon.
I just wish that that earlier material hadn't been purged just in order to stick to the McQuarrie imagery over and above the movie versions of things. I just don't see the added value.

I was *just* about to post the same thing.
The 'command tower' for ships gets updated regularly - the thing is DESIGNED to be easily replace and upgraded over time.
CVN-65 from 1960s:

Same thing can be said about the TIE's from Rebels and the X-Wings of Episode 7. Just look at photos of WW2 fighters. Many of the fighters used by both sides had different looks comparing the early model of an aircraft to the late model of the same aircraft.

I actually had no problem with the Giraffe Destroyers. But then I decided to "fix" the image, and after seeing it "fixed" the
Giraffe
-class just look silly now.

Unless I'm reading this wrong I don't see any point in rationalizing the proportions of ships in SW:Rebels. Its a stylistic choice made by the creators of the animated TV series. Is that so hard to understand? Any argument for or against it is subject only to personal taste, not whether its consistent with canon measurements.
That being said I don't hate them but neither do I like them. The Ghost though looks like a sweet ship but I was initially surprised by how large it is compared to the Gozanti.
Actually, I prefer photoshopped-un-giraffed.
Those things are really gonna be Giraffe class.
