Just some theorycrafting here:
Vessory is one of my favorite pilots atm, other than a sigma squadron phantom. His ability requires help but sets up great consistant damage. Ive tried using him with hlc but i felt that 42 points was just too much for a defender. Also why i havn't tried brath with a hlc. So recently i started running cluster missiles to help against falcons and b wings (can only 3p0 one of the 2 attacks) and they have worked astoundingly well against alot of lists. they do fall flat against tie swarms and probably phantoms (havn't had an opportunity to try it out) but it can at least do damage where your normal 3 dice attack won't.
So this is a debate thread for what missiles would work best on him, and that he arguably the best ordnance user outside of vader and tycho. (id rate him higher because he's still amazing after using it, unlike most other ships who can take missiles.)
Cluster Missiles- With his ability to pump out rerolls and a potential focus after a range 3 shot to set up the target lock, against the right opponet this can seriously hurt the tougher ships. against a falcon if you get a 2 or 3 hit roll on the first roll, he will ignore most of the damage, but the second roll will probably go straight through. it will also allow your team to fire on a basic falcon. (Adrenaline rush can help set up your shots, being able to hard turn if your at an off angle)
Assault Missiles- This one is harder to use than cluster, due to the range 2-3 restriction. He can still get the best results out of it compared to most any other pilot due to reroll + focus. (hortan if he could take it could do as good) Useful against most any list as extra damage is extra damage, and a 4 hit roll is well within the realm of possibility. Only problem is its cost compared to a hlc, at 5 points your probably better off shaving some points somewhere for the hlc.
Homing Missiles- Not my particular favorite but can get decent results, has alot of merit on him against falcons. Denying the evade token and with his rerolls, and potentially a focus, getting a 3-4 hit roll that the falcon can only evade one of is really good.
Concussion Missiles- Another missile i don't tend to use as much, mostly because if im taking a missile its assault due to a certain swarm player in my meta. This one I don't really think is as great on vessory, because his reroll should help keep the blank to hit from being that great of a bonus, and it just doesn't feel as particularily useful on vessory as a homing missile would be.
Proton Rockets- These just came out, and I personally think they're going to be one of the best 3 point upgrades vessory can get. at 38 points (39 with adrenaline rush, or vi) he isn't so expensive that he takes up a the majority of the list, but he also has a range one kill zone that is extremely deadly. since it triggers on his focus that he should be taking anyway, and he can keep it to spend on the roll, he will get a 5 dice tl + focus attack that can kill an awful lot of ships. Vessory i think is the best spot for a proton rocket simply because he's not a needy ship for upgrades. if you just have 3 points youve set aside for vessory, your looking at the ion cannons, which are just kindve a bonus for him. Predatory is useless until endgame, PTL is hard to shed stress with his dial, Outmaneuver is also just a nice little bonus, but not something you should force in your play. Proton Rockets is the same thing imo, its simply a 3 point upgrade to your range one attack, that says discard to roll an extra dice at range one. which for vessory, is actually useful since his upgrades are all mostly just nice to haves, but not neccesary.
In short, I think vessory has alot of hidden potential with ordnance (moreso than vader would, due to vessory being more useful imo after he fires the missile, and vessory will probably cost less than the vader loadouts ive been seeing)
