XXBY

By Keatus, in X-Wing

Hi,

First time poster, long time lurker.

I have a standard 3 round swiss tournament coming up in a couple of days at the local FLGS, and I am planning on running the following:

Rookie Pilot (X-wing) - 21pts

Garven Dries (X-wing) - 26pts

Blue Squadron Pilot (B-wing) + FCS - 24pts

Dutch Vander (Y-wing) + ICT + R5 Astromech - 29pts

I was also thinking R5-K6 on the Rookie and remove FCS or R5D8 on Dutch without R5 & FCS but was concerned with making Dutch to big of a target.

I have the following available to work with:

1 Core Set, 1 X-wing, 1 Y-wing, 1 B-wing, 1 Tie x1, & 1 Tie Bomber.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I will post the match results and run through the games after the event.

Thanks

You may run into problems against high PS Pantoms+ACD as they are common. If you are playing against Echo and ahe does not have VI, you will want initiative to at least attempt to shoot first.

Graven and Dutch have always had great synergy with each other and blues w/ FCS are great for the points. As you have nothing that can induce stress against Phantoms to disrupt ACD, I would suggest starting in a corner and moving slowly up the side and force you opponent to come to you, turning at the last possible second towards the incoming enemies. Firing from an oblique angle will help your list survive into round two. Your forces will split at some point but use this to your advantage and fly in two pairs ( your 2s and 6s as x/b and x/y) use one group to cover the other and you should be ok. It will be difficult but not impossible to pull off some good wins.

If you face a falcon (any type) offset your deployment in a way to generate an oblique first round of firing with the falcon closest to the edge and your rookie on the inside to either block or get at range 1 to possibly draw the shot away from Garven or Dutch. If you get that first oblique shot you might be able to avoid k-turning and keep your actions.

Against swarms or any other squad, I suggest concentrating your fire on high priority targets that buff other ships.

Have Garven move before Dutch and take focus, when Dutch TLs, don't waste it on the B-wing. Don't forget about FCS.

Good luck- Brendan

For the models you have that's a pretty solid list. If you had more id suggest cutting the fire control system or r5 to make the rookie a blue. Good luck out there!

I used to fly XXBY as my go to tournament list back before wave 4. I used Dutch with Ion, Wedge, Blue, and Rookie. It jousts pretty hard and has a lot of hits to chew through. Nice toolbox of abilities to choose from. I think Wedge can help you against those Phantoms to an extent. My list does feel very outdated though with the new meta. Good luck!
