Crusade of the Forgotten

By any2cards, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

For those of you interested, I found that CSI has the Hero and Monster expansion Crusade of the Forgotten available now.

Ordered :) Thanks for the heads up

I had pre-ordered it and got it today.

Both quests looked okay and gave the possibility for the OL to earn an overlord reward card where you basically give Sorcery 2 to a monster group until the end of turn. Useful.

Mini-wise, I like them all. Golems are really bulky, but don't expect them as being as tall as Giants. They´re a bit taller than Chaos Beasts. Sorcerers have a very dynamic position and I like that. So do all of the heroes. The Golem bases were not flat though, which is a bit annoying. Otherwise really happy because I have a session on monday and Golems is exactly the monster type I was looking for using.

I'm curious to see Tahlia, if she has been changed or not

Same curiosity as Rugal, anyone able to show stats/ability/feats?

Tahlia (Warrior class)

Movement 3

Health 14

Stamina 4

Defense (gray dice)

Willpower 3

Might 3

Knowledge 2

Awareness 3

Ability:

Each time you defeat a monster, you gain 2 movement points.

Heroic feat:

Use when a monster starts its activation or moves into a space adjacent to you. Immediately perform an attack that targets that monster. After the attack is resolved, the monster's activation resumes.

I prefer the old Tahlia artwork...

So what's your opinion on the new medusa minis?

You can't really see them well on the FFG pictures, but they seem to look really strange to me (especially their lower body and tail seems to look very strange)

I think the new one is awesome personnaly !

I haven't gotten mine yet (should come this week!) but I'm most excited for the medusae. I do think the original designs are still a bit creepier, but I'm a big gorgon fan in general so I'll take any I can get.

Just got this today

Medusae figures look way better in person much more fluid and serpent like than what the pics made them out to be.

would be really happy if somebody would post some pictures. you have my thanks in advance.

I just got mine today... some of the heroes have big sculpt lines but I don't paint mine so it's not a huge deal to me.

The medusae look GREAT. I was worried after seeing the small shot of them in the previews, but they look very similar to the original design (which is one of my favorites). Very awesome:

nice thanks for the picture

It's not supersharp but it gets across the idea how her lower body looks which you can't see in the FFG picture and I must say it looks surprisingly good and much less like a fat toad than I expected

thanks.

love the old medusa model.

but this also looks great.

(any more pictures?)

one of the minis has a mis cast face. Tahlia I believe, on my mini she has no mouth and very little nose. do you know if FF will send me a new one?

FFG has been really good about this sort of thing in my experience. When I first bought my Descent Base Game box, it came with two minion Barghests which had tails which had broken off in transport. I took a photo of these Barghests and sent a missing/damaged parts request. Within 10 days I had two brand new Barghests shipped to me in a little box!

I was really pleased and impressed with what they did. Definitely good treatment of customers :-)

I'd say you're probably fine! Here is the form I used:

Seems Talhia could be a perfect Knight

The question I have is can Advance be paired with her heroic ability?

Say a monster approaches her and she activates her heroic feat to attack it. She kills it, and gains 2 movement points. She then pays 1 stamina to activate Advance, and wants to move 5 spaces to attack another monster. Can she do this?

I would argue she cannot, since "move up to your speed and perform an attack" is considered a single contained action, and the timing of Advance suggests she must do this immediately, i.e. she cannot first spend the 2MP gained from her ability.

I suppose after the attack with Advance is performed, she can then use the extra 2 movement points (possibly 4 movement points if her Advance attack killed a monster too). And of course, since the MP in this scenario was gained during the OL's turn, the moment she allows the OL's turn to resume, all the MP is lost.

I would be curious what others' thoughts are on this however.

Oh and another question I wonder about: If a monster moves into a space adjacent to Tahlia, could she activate both Guard and her Heroic Feat to perform two attacks one after the other? Both can trigger "when a monster moves into a space adjacent to you". I'm not sure what the ruling is on activating multiple triggers to the same single event and whether you can do that or not.

How are the quests in these Monster and Hero packs? I have the first ed monster figures so I doubt I will pick up these packs BUT the quests do interest me. I have seen some sellers on ebay putting up the quest guides and rumor cards and I have been tempted to pick them up. Have any of you played through these quests or have any thoughts on if they are worth playing through?

I've only looked at Oath of the Outcast so far (will be getting the others soon,) and the quests function nicely as standalones or as rumors to add to a campaign. They add a little variety, like anything else, and are designed to showcase the monsters in the packs.

I would argue that she can, since she already has gained the two movement points from defeating the monster.

So she would spend her stamina, exhaust advance, gain another 3 movement points, moves 5 and attacks.

No. MP (such as those from fatigue) can be spent during move actions or between actions- it is essentially an interrupt. Advance triggers immediately after a monster is defeated, and does not involve MP. There is no "time" between the first attack and the second one for her to spend those fatigue MP. In other words, the complete resolution of Advance must occur immediately following the defeat of the monster.

Any thoughts Zaltyre on whether Tahlias heroic feat and Guard can be used during the same monster movement? Been looking through my references and can't find a similar ruling to establish precedent one way or another..
