So far I have bought the Starter, A-Wing, HWK-290 and just purchased two Rebel Aces.
So I was surprised the Rebel Aces set comes with a B-Wing which can hold two torpedos but ZERO torpedos.
So now I have an X-Wing and Two B-Wings who can carry 5 Proton Torpedos between them but only one Proton Torpedo. Aces comes with two Proton Rockets and three Chardaan Refit that replaces rockets for the one A-Wing but no Torpedos for the B-Wing...
I can barely even use Nera Dantels' ability. Not cool.
Not enough Torpedos!
then get a Y-Wing.
An X-Wing expansion will probably help, too. Plus it'll give you more named pilots.
I have mountains of torpedoes...as do most people with a collection of any size. You'll get there if you keep collecting. I suggest you borrow some cards until you have bought more expansions.
E-Wings and the Rebel Transport have those nifty Flechette Torpedoes that are both cheap and useful. Procurement of those would be to your advantage if you wish to use them.
Also, I would look into the Decimator and StarViper in the near future, as they'll have access to those ion torpedoes (I don't remember the exact name of them).
The TIE Bomber comes with lots of secondary weapons, though I think the only torpedo is the Adv. Proton. Like the others said, as your collection grows you'll get plenty of upgrade cards. I have 2 Cores, 1 Y-wing, 1 Bomber, and an A-wing and just with that I have plenty of secondary weapons. I have too many Proton Torpedoes, actually.
The Aces pack is more meant to modify players' existing A- and B-Wings, rather than start a new collection. Everything in the pack is new and only available in that pack, so it makes sense to include duplicates of new material rather than reprinting existing cards.
First, I'd recommend asking other players in your area. It's easy to accumulate spare upgrade cards, and I'm sure someone will be willing to lend you a few (especially ordnance). If you're not playing both factions, it can be difficult to get all of the possible upgrade cards, but if another player's concentrating on the Empire, you can share or trade.
As for expansions, I'd recommend the B-Wing and E-Wing packs, since they both contain different System and Torpedo upgrade cards. The B-Wing has Cannons, while the E-Wing has some good Talents, and Astromechs for your X-Wing as well.
PM me your address and I will send you a Torpedo in the mail. Not kidding.
So someone wants to use torpedoes and no one's trying to stop this poor misguided fool, for shame wingers for shame.
OP your not really missing out not owning ordinance it's pretty common knowledge the one shot weapons are not worth the points and your better off relying on your main weapons and using the points for elite pilot talents and upgrades.
My funds are pretty low. I spent most of it getting the two Rebel Aces packs. Not sure if I could grab and E-Wing and certainly can't get the Transport right now. I did have my Eye on the Z-95 since it comes with those Assault Missiles for my beloved A-Wings but I suppose now I'll keep an eye out for a Y-Wing also since i see they come with two torpedos.

I'm still pretty new to it and only currently playing with my friends who I got into the game so I have almost no knowledge of the meta. I suppose that's good to know though. Nera Dantels seems like she could make good use of torpedos though...
Edited by KingsguardShe's a rare exception but even then she can only fire twice then she's just a b-wing, ordinance is awkward to use in the best circumstances and unless you target lock then wait a turn to fire so you also have a focus you'll rarely do more damage than you would just using your primary weapon.
Lots of us have tried and lots of us tend to agree unless the secondary weapon is a Canon it's just not worth using most of the time.

Sometimes it's good to be outside the meta. Fly what interests you, and see if it works out.
Just from what you've already got:
Dantels is good with any torpedo, Farlander could use Push the Limit and his ability to set up Advanced Proton Torpedoes (once you get them), Skywalker's ability provides a defensive focus so he can target lock to fire, and Farrell loves him some Proton Rockets.
If you're just playing casual games with frIends you could use proxies. The Tracking tokens used in the missions work well for this kind of thing, 1 token equals 1 torpedo.
As others have said, missiles and torpedoes are rarely worth using, and most if us have far more of them than we'll ever use. They can be fun, but you really need to build your squad around them, and those pilots like Nera, Rhymer, Jonus, and Horton that were designed to maximise their use.

Hmm. Alright, thanks for the tips. Guess that Chardaan Refit card will be useful if missiles turn out to be duds.
They aren't so much duds as much as they are upgrades with a very narrow use, you need to have a squad built to accommodate them rather than just slapping them on, and against certain lists certain torpedoes and missiles will be much worse. Most of the more competitive gamers avoid specialization when they can.
I of course am the farthest thing from a competitive gamer and half my lists would probably be laughed out of any major tournament on sight
. Torps are fun! Especially on Horton
Still TS makes a fair point. They could at least have added some default upgrades belonging to the a-wing and b-wings

The only "poor misguided fool" I see here is a community member who would always rather snark than be a legitimate help. I bet you wouldn't dare to give up one of your precious torp upgrades (that you never use) to a new player to help them out. ![]()
Your card is in the mail today Kingsguard. The advice here may be correct in a strictly tactical sense, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't have the freedom to try out torps for yourself, with your local players, and find out for yourself.

That's not snark just a joke, what's more I gave an honest non jokey answer explaining while they are generally thought of as crap.
And I'm an imp player I mostly have missiles and their no good either.
Now you should report to medical and have them remove that carbon rod for you.

Yep. Your non jokey, honest, and largely unuseful answer always comes just in time...for the sting of your initial comments to wear off. You're real noble Hobo!

What's my being 47th in line for the throne got to do with anything?
the main reason most people will say ordnance is useless is it requires more pilots and upgrades to make it work, however there are ships that help. And if you are really interested in trying missles and torpedoes out I'd recommend the y wing and x wing expansion. The y wing has Dutch who gives a free target lock when he takes one, and offers board control with his ion turret. The x wing has Garvin who passes a focus token after spending his, so you can target lock with an a wing, then get a focus from him to shoot with.
other notable guys include Col vessory who reacquires target locks during shooting, and has some merit with proton rockets (5 dice with tl and focus can hurt)
as well as Vader and tycho. I lump them in the same group since they usually get 2 actions a turn and don't have much bite unless there's missles or some other upgrade on them. Vader is one of only a couple pilots who can use marksmanship and make it worthwhile, combined with cluster missiles and you're probably gonna do good damage. Tycho works with most anything, but I prefer assault missiles.
vessory also can use marksmanship really well (but is imperial and it looks like your a rebel player)
