Giving up on E-Wings
I am actually going to give Corran and Etahn more flying time now, until i go back to the swarm in preparation to wave 5.
So i can't help myself but...
Yes it is the second time i do it. But it is just... so fitting.
For me it is an incestuous child between an Interceptor and a Xwing ![]()
Etahn seems to be more useful for benefitting other ships, as are most Rebel ships, he works pretty well with Ten-Nunb as long as he is in his firing arc while attacking.
I've used Etahn in a couple of games with Ten Numb and Wedge vs. Phantoms. They worked well, but I kept getting the E-wing killed. I went with PTL on him and an R2, but I really should do R2-D2 and keep him alive. It was also my first games in a while and I hadn't gotten used to the game. I'd also like to try it vs. a Falcon build, too.
From what I can tell, the E-wing is the Rebel TIE Advanced in that it is an opposing faction's ship in a friendly wrapper. The only difference is the E-wing has uses while the Advanced is bad. As a primarily Imperial player, I really like the E-wing's style of play. It is very much like an Interceptor: a scalpel rather than the traditional Rebel hacksaw.
Of course this is all theorycrafting as I don't own a single Wave 4 ship yet.
Corran is quickly becoming my favorite pilot. His double tap can really put the pressure on an opponent. Coupled with FCS he eats Falcons for breakfast. Pair him with an R2D2 and he becomes very hard to kill. Your opponent has to put out atleast more than 1 point of damage, which can be difficult with a 3 evade ship, to hurt him. Meanwhile you take your double tap with tl. The odds are much more in your favor. I've had some amazing wins with him. I took down a healthy Bobba and slightly wounded Kath by himself. If I see him lined up opposite me, he's the first ship I target. I do not want to face a shield regening, double tapping killer in the end game. I'll loose.
As for e wings...
bought one mainly for 'completeness' and the cards.
read the cards and looked at the dial, saw the pilots... thought 'my god how have i overlooked these, they are awesome'
Then i've yet to be able to field them properly as i just cant justify the points they cost.
They also look bloody horrible and I cant help feeling they are a bit out of place in the game. They just dont feel that 'star wars' to be, look a bit too much like BSG vipers.
I agree on the looks part.
But then we have that daft star viper coming, which looks even more out of place.
We just need a "Starbuck" card for the e wing:)
Alright guys, I've given it some thought(for the last 10 minutes anyway) after reading this thread again and have come up with the following.
Alright guys, I've given it some thought(for the last 10 minutes anyway) after reading this thread again and have come up with the following.
=====================Lets Work Corran Out!=====================95 pointsPilots------Corran Horn (43)E-Wing (35), R2-D2 (4), Advanced Sensors (3), Veteran Instincts (1)Tala Squadron Pilot (13)Tala Squadron Pilot (13)Tala Squadron Pilot (13)Tala Squadron Pilot (13)SpikeSpiegel said I should think about what I want out of Corran. What I want is a high PS E-wing that is gonna move last so he has the lay of the land and can then barrel roll to get out of arcs as best as possible. Then I want him to shoot the sh*t out of something and get the hell out of dodge so he can come back round for another pass.Thoughts? I have no qualms in people tearing that apart but now I have 4 Z's I would like to get some use out of them. Oh and I have another 5 points so uses for them would be good too
Corran REALLY wants Fire Control System, so on his double-tap he has target lock.
Corran + FCS + R2-D2 + PtL + Engine Upgrade (48)
4x Tala Squadron Pilot (52)
It's a crazy amount of points of a ship with 5 hit points, but as long as they can't focus him down in 1-2 turns, you can just green bank + boost/evade every turn.
Edited by MajorJugglerAs a rule theirs no small ship you can't focus down in one turn if the green dice are against you.
There was one game I played using two defenders and a firespray PS 3 across the board facing corran with some x-wing allies, I went head to head with them corral fired first taking two shields of my mercenary I then focused him down before he could double tap.
Three green dice might seem alot to rebel players but we imperials know relying on them alone is a bad idea, given the expense of the e-wing a hull upgrade isn't the worst choice.
