please answer!! no.1 most important question!
Are there going to be any more expansions?
small or large?
mountains of madness?
any hints?
Aw come on.. Innsmouth havn't even hit the shelves here in Sweden and you are already talking about next expansion. Let's play Innsmouth for a couple of months before we even can start discussing what a possible next expansion could contain or if we even want more of them..
Some want mountain of madness, some want to stop and play with what we got, I want a furter expansion focusing on the different cults in Arkham and the possibility to bring them down instead of merely joining them but that all personal.
Give the developers some respit to find out if there's even a market for a new expansion. Maybe they are working on something, maybe not, but to live in ignorance and enjoy what we got for another couple of months is my cup of tea...
yes but never before has there been the rumor that innsmouth is the LAST!! do we have more to look forward to?? i for one want to know!
In no respect is this an important question.
Also, I think you'll be lucky to get a reply just by lighting the bat-signal like this. Like all board game designers, after he's finished designing an expansion KevinW enters a state of zenlike meditation in order to restore his psychic balance.
There hasn't been a rumour that Innsmouth is the last, but there haven't been any rumours of more expansions either. For what it's worth, I doubt that's the end; there'll probably be more. There's no end to the options for small-box expansions, and there are even one or two places still to visit for board expansions. Red Hook Horror , maybe, although there's not much in the stories to fill a whole town expansion.
Personally, I'd like to see a small Mountains of Madness expansion which doesn't let you visit the actual place (since extra boards are a bit clunky and extra boards which have special travel arrangements are especially a pain) but it would be nice if it was all about the antarctic expedition returning to Arkham with loads of relics / specimens etc. At a pinch, the Mountains themselves could be explored by way of a special encounter deck (like the Cult encounters). Alternatively, if there are going to be boards whcih let the investigators go globetrotting, I'd like to see Severn Valley Horror.
The fact that Innsmouth contains no items might indicate that the designers think the 'limit' has been reached, but I guess we'll see. How about Rocky Horr or? Let's go see the man who began it....
Yeah some globetrotting expansions would be nice, or perhaps some standalone expansions with more focus on theme integration into the gameplay (something I was trying to do with my Haunted House expansion, at least that was part of the original plan) perhaps something a little lower key than 'save the world'. There are no end of scenarios and campaigns for Call of Cthulhu and of course literature that could be translated into an 'Arkham Horror' game (expansion/variant/standalone).
How about a Dreamlands stand-alone expansion; perhaps something like a cross between Arkham Horror and Runebound? (Brian Lumley's series of Dreamlands fantasy-horror books are full of great stuff). Or Hyperborian setting (again Lumley and others offer great source material). Horror on the Orient Express has potential for a great game too, which I believe has been mentioned at least briefly elsewhere. Or how about something totally different from a the perspective of one of the vaguely benign mythos races such as the Great Race. So long as you can keep it fresh and interesting there is still quite a lot of scope for more, more, morrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrre! ;o?
All that aside, like said above, it is just way to earlier for such speculation, and rather pointless. But who knows what goes on behind closed doors.
For days now I have sat in my own filth and stink in the shadow of the letter box. Waiting. Many a postal worker or delivery driver lies, with twisted neck, at the foot of the dank cellar steps after they failed to hand me that box of Innsmouth Horror.
I'd be interested in an expansion that includes printed copies of the Dark Pharaoh and Dunwich Horror Heralds, but other than that, I'm pretty content with what we've got already.
But in case Kevin takes a look in this thread and happens to be in the right mood to answer questions, I'd really like to know how Kate Winthrop's Science-ability works in case of:
1. She encounters a monster in Other World?
2. She's standing on a gate and there's a monster surge?
3. She's standing on a sealed location and a Gate Burst happens?
Thank you in advance.

Although I'm not Kevin.. the text says Science! - Any Phase: Gates and monsters cannot appear in Kate's location due to her flux stabilizer. Monsters and gates do not disappear if she enters their location, however, and monsters can move into her location as usual.
1. It all depends how you interpret the word "location" in Kates text. On the one hand it may be litteral and so she could still hypotetically be attacked by monsters while standing in the streets or in this case the Other World. I would play this as you ignore any kind of monsters spawned from a card, including OW-encounters.
2. I think we discussed this in another thread a week back. The surge still occur but devide the monsters on the other gates instead and use the same number of monsters (ie do not remove any that might have spawned on Kate)
3. As gates cannot appear on her location it doesn't matter it's a surge. Gates cannot open regardless. Remember to move the flying monsters though, a very effective guardian of the seal...
That how I play it..
With all due respect, I could come to completely opposite conclusions and find them equally plausible. The problem is not that we can't house rule these by ourselves - we'd just like to know the official interpretation by someone of authority over this game.

But would the seal be broken? Reading just the rules carefully, it would seem so to me, but I'm not sure.

Please don't set up subjects intended to catch Kevin's attention unless you have a game related question. He's been nice enough to answer a number of questions about Innsmouth recently, but I'm sure he's busy, and it would be better if we didn't waste his time except for actual game dynamic questions (which he seems interested in answering this time, unlike with Kingsport).
I'd also like to know if a gate burst unseals an eldersign if Kate is there. If so, that would be pretty horrid.

Good point. My english betrayed me. I was focusing whether a new gate opened or not. The fact that the seal might break without a new gate opening did not occur to me. We await a devine answer then.
If Kate is on a gate during a monster surge, even if it is the gate that caused the surge, you still assign monsters among the gates as though Kate was not standing there. However, when you actually go to draw the monsters and place them, you simply place none at Kate's gate (even if all the other gates seem to get "more" than the surging gate: Kate's).
I play that she prevents a seal from being removed. But I don't know if the gate attempting to open is what causes the gate burst (in which it would be canceled), or if some other force bursts the seal, allowing a gate to open (in which case it should not).
can we at least know if innsmouth is selling well?
