Portsmouth Tournament #2 + Lots of numbers.

By SDCC, in X-Wing Battle Reports

The second tournament at Fistful of Dice in Portsmouth took place at the weekend. It was a bit short notice so there were 8 of us and 4 rounds.

Everyone had a good time and a good laugh, with everyone offering assistance or rule clarifications when needed. For a new shop they're doing a good job of listening to their customers and acting on it. Kudos to them! This time around there was a prize of one standard expansion ship (winners choice).

There was a good mix of ships and tactics. We'd need a lot more info and time to figure out what the 'Portsmouth meta' might be, but I've started by getting hold of all the squads used and the number of each ship.

A lot more variation in the Imp builds, whilst Z's were order of the day for the rebel scum! The most glaring omission overall is that nobody used Predator.

For me, I won 2 and lost 2.

I was trounced in the first game by the double BH list. Then I came up against Whisper and Echo. They were flown very nicely indeed and I couldn't do much other than congratulate my opponent and hope for better in round three.

Three and four did go better, with me outright winning against the mini-swarm with Vader(!) and Howl (which included me flying my Firespray off the board!), and then the BH backed up by Squints and Eyeballs. So it finished a lot better than it started. Phew!

It gave me a lot to think about and has given me a lot of ideas for next time, so it was extremely worthwhile.

That's two tournaments now, Overall I've played 7, won 5 and lost 2. Very happy with that. :D
