Problems with Amazon Prime

By Mesrob, in X-Wing

Guys, has anybody been having problems with Amazon Prime? I have placed two orders recently for FFG products, and they have both missed the guaranteed two day delivery dates, and they have actually taken about five days to deliver. I am currently experiencing another delivery problem with them now. I placed an order on Friday, 9/26/2014 for a Warhammer Diskwars core set, and picked next day delivery, 9/27/2014, and I paid the $3.99 for next day delivery. I was supposed to receive it on a Saturday, and it never came. Amazon was very quick to refund me the $3.99 for next day delivery, but said I should receive it by Monday, which is today. Still never got it, and now they are saying I should receive it tomorrow. I'm a little frustrated with this situation. I am beginning to wonder if Amazon is losing so much money on Amazon Prime shipping, that they are intentionally delaying orders to save money. What do you think?

I was a Barnes and Noble member at one point, so I could get the 1-3 day express shipping. However, whenever I ordered any X-wing miniatures from them, two days after I would place an order with them, they would always tell me that my order was "delayed." I would not receive my X-wing minis until about seven days later. I complained about this, and B&N customer service refused to refund my $25 yearly membership. I am paying for express shipping, but not receiving that service. I had to go through my credit card company to get them to refund me my $25.

Anyway, anybody experiencing this? I am not furious or angry, there are more important things in life to worry about. However, it is annoying. Thanks for your time everyone.

Are you ordering directly from Amazon, or through an independent retailer within Amazon's framework? My guess would be the latter.

Also where do you leave. It's the postal service that does the Sunday delv. So once it is in USPS hands who knows how long it can take.

Guys, believe or not, the item was ordered directly from Amazon. They were the seller. Not some other party, with Amazon fulfillment. And guess what, the shipper was Fedex! Even Amazon customer service told me they were surprised with the delay. The guy in India told me that this is unlike Fedex to be late. I hope this helps.

Wow, yeah then you have every right to be angry. I just wanted to check since I work with an Amazon affiliate so we get these kinds of questions a lot. But if this is a case of Amazon and/or FedEx not living up their end of the bargain than you should definitely be getting in touch with their customer service to figure out why this keeps happening.

I have been told that if they miss the guaranteed delivery, they will extend your membership by a month for free. So maybe at least hit them up on that.

Also, if this is the case, then I doubt they are doing it to save money.

They already did that once for me. I am wondering if they will do it a second time for this third screw-up. I did e-mail them, waiting to hear back.

They do it up to 12 times I think.

Was it FedEx smartpost? You could track it and find out. Samrtpost is where FedEx gets it to your local postal center and USPS completes the Delivery. Only way I know Sunday delivery could have happened. Tracking it will show who dropped the ball. Did Amazon get it out late, was FedEx delayed, or is USPS bad in your area.

Ever since Amazon started using Smartpost they usually miss deliveries by a day or two. If you call them on it, they only guarantee delivery to the local carrier in two days.

Haven't ever ordered from there. I will say I'm not real happy with the way Miniature Market has been doing lately. I live about 100 miles away and it's taken longer to get stuff from them than New Jersey and Colorado. Never had a problem with them until the past 8 months or so but it's getting a little ridiculous.

I ordered another imperial aces at 2 am Thursday morning and got a notice today that it will go out tomorrow. That's too long when ordering from an internet business.

I think it comes down to who they are using to do the local delivery. They use UPS in Minneapolis, at least they do currently. My stuff is spot on. Always consistently on time. I have read about other markets where they use other local carriers as an alternative to UPS and it's not nearly as reliable. USPS is pretty reliable here, but I live in the city and have a good carrier, so that helps.

Commenting from the UK. I have tried Amazon Prime whenever the trial offer comes round and have NEVER had an order arrive the next day (Amazon Prime over in UK is next day delivery if ordered before a cut off time) Doesn't matter if it is Royal Mail or a courier doing the delivery.

It always sounds like a good idea as I order a fair bit from Amazon, but because it never works I always cancel before the trial is up.

They also are up front about the fact that they don't ship things on the weekend. They are not some giant company like Amazon working 24/7/365, so you either accept that or you pay more.

I'm in the UK and I always get my stuff next day when I order before cut off time.

I do live near Crewe though they have a big sorting office there.

I use Amazon Prime for a lot of my shopping. It's a rare occasion that they miss their guaranteed delivery date. I sometimes even get things the very next day.

Your problem is your going with Amazon in the first place.

I have ordered stuff from amazon US site and had it delivered to the Philippines within 3 days, yes folks all the way around the world in 3 days. I would kick amazon's behind if I were you.

Lately, they've been offering me promotional credit to downgrade Prime shipping to standard shipping. Most of the time, the orders I make aren't urgent, so I've taken that offer a couple of times and gotten some free Instant Video stuff.

Haven't had any issues that I can remember when I've used the free 2-day shipping, but it does seem like every order I make has an initial delivery estimate that's ridiculously broad like "this will ship sometime in the next 40 days" and then I get it in 2 days.

Yeah, I did the same thing. I loaded up on some credits for Halloween movie downloads.

Okay guys, here is an update. This was Fedex, not Fedex smart post, this was supposed to be delviered next day air, by Fedex, old school next day delivery, which made them famous. They let me know that my order is out for delivery today, (should have been here Saturday) and to make up for it, they extended my prime by a month, and they knocked off 25% my order. Here is the catch, someone else from Amazon customer service e-mailed this morning. They said they called Fedex, and Fedex said they lost the package! So to say sorry, they are shipping me another Warhammer Diskwars Core set, using same day delivery. I checked my original order and it still says Out for delivery. So based on what I see, I am going to receive two core sets instead of one. Sorry if this is confusing, but I am at a loss at this point. I am happy I will at least get something today. If I get a second, I have to do the honest thing and send it back to them. Wow, what a mess.

Strange... I always get my Amazon Prime orders via UPS and have never had any trouble. Is the FedEx vs UPS thing regional with Amazon?

I had an issue with my Destiny preorder for Xbox one. They shipped it via FedEx. Amazon has amazing customer service. Despite loving my FLGS, I buy most of my X Wing stuff from Amazon. I take my change jar to the Coin Star at the end of the month and get an Amazon.com gift card to feed my nerd habit. It also helps keep my spending under control ;)

I get FedEx when I do overnight upgrade and UPS when I do normal 2 day. They clearly do whatever makes sense depending on when, and where the item is coming from. They are going to start collecting sales tax in MN tomorrow, which likely means we are getting a local distribution center. WOOP! Same day delivery FTW. Maybe even a local office for tech folks (they recruit here a lot).
