Navigator may not be a bad choice for Scum Fett, as he will want to be close to enemies. Combine with Stay on Target for best results.

It has a Defender, so your plan is solid (yes I just stole your line HoboJeebus).

i am thinking along similar lines but with a flanker like Backstabber.

the academies will likely get left alone with ur firesprays taking the heat early. Putting them in harms way and blocking with them until they get a good opportunity to focus fire is often ur best plan.

another angle might be ion cannon on a defender, its actually pretty good.

this version gives u some long range control over their small fighters and a way of dealing consistent damage without suffering obstruction from asteroids or giving them an extra evade dice.

"Drop" the Onyx to a Delta. It's a bizarre situation where you pay less points for something better.

One of the TIE defender's issues is its white K turn is very blockable. Going from Onyx to Delta saves you two points and makes your K turn much harder to block. The benefits of the higher pilot skill don't outweigh the cost and the more blockable K-turn: you're still going to be moving before and shooting after the named ships.

Plus you don't have to look at Onyx's ghastly picture.
