Beneath the Eye of the Gods ( a Black Crusade Recruitment)

The Flaming Tomb…

In another life, millennia ago, this world was known by a different name; Icaria. This world cradled in the bosom of Imperial safety was a rotating sphere of blue and jade. Icaria was a peaceful Imperial world, never knowing the horrors of war or the terrible grind of Imperial tithes. The planet survived off modest agriculture and the steady flow of artists and nobles who visited. It had once been said by the great Imperial poet Alehasha Veri that Icaria bore the same natural beauty of ancient Terra told only in stories.

Such a life no longer exists. When this world was swallowed by the swirling expanse of the Screaming Vortex, the scion of the Blood God washed the earth in crimson. The greater Thirster of Blood Mor’Tarteshta fell upon the world with his armies of the daemonic, slaughtering the punitive defenses and any would-be raiders. Disgusted by the tranquility of this world, Mor’Tarteshta sought to warp this rock in his own image, an offering to his master that saw billions of souls offered to the King of Fury. The expansive oceans have now been evaporated from the earth, seas of magma writhing and crashing against the black stoned islands that box the burning planet. Only the ruins of the once beautiful Icarian cities remain as a reminder of what came to pass. Crumbling spires jut from the lakes of lava and demolished cities now serving as a home for the feral and bloodthirsty people who no call this hellish plane home.

Now this world holds only one purpose in the Screaming Vortex, as a proving ground. Warlords, Champions, Swordsmen, and lone Renegades alike flock to the ashen wastelands to prove themselves before their peers and gather warriors to their cause. Neither your purpose nor your loyalty to any God holds sway on this world as all are welcome to have their blood spilled in the colossal arenas of bone and bronze that pox the obsidian islands. This world is a holy proving ground above all others in the Screaming Vortex for this world knows no night. 4 great stars circle around this world, bathing the earth in their searing light. Each star captures a slit of flame at their center, giving them the appearance of great eyes gazing over the world. It is tradition that this is a sign, a tale that the Gods have blessed this world as a place for their servants to prove their worth… and even those of no faith are called to this world…

And this is why you have come to this world. Your purpose is your own and your goals are left to your thoughts. You have no loyal cultists and no tools to destroy your enemies save the armour on your backs and the weapons at your sides. Will you find a Lord that you deem worthy enough to pledge your services to, a Patron to supply you with the means to follow your life's ambitions or will you take the leap and attempt to amass your own army? The choice is yours…

Good evening to all my brothers and sisters of the dark legions and those of the fallen chapters. With the publishing of the Tome of Decay, the fourth supplement in the Black Crusade line and completing the coverage of the four Dark Gods, I find myself eager to start up another Campaign of Black Crusade.

so here's some quick ground rules to help you folks get an idea.

I. You must have a copy of the Black Crusade rule book and you must be at least familiar with the rules. It doesn't matter if it's a physical or a digital copy, just as long as you have one. If you don't have a copy, you can't play. Sorry, that's just how it has to be. Having the four supplements are not required and if there is something from these supplements that you want, just let me know and we can discuss it. I have all four of the Tome supplements and I plan to use them extensively. If you have something unique that you'd like to give a whirl, feel free to run it by me. The worst I'll do is say no. When it comes to picking characters, I will allow Advanced Archetypes. With that in mind, You can choose an Advanced Archetype or choose one of the standard Archetypes with an additional 3600 starting xp for Chaos Space Marines or 4600 xp for Humans.

II. A house rule I always make is that I reward people for roleplaying to their character. So if you play your character particularly well and stay true to that character, I will give you bonus Xp or in some cases, Bonus points with your God, Warlord, or Patron. I will also be determining if I want to add any bonuses to your rolls based on how detailed or creative your actions are. Like I said, the more you get into it, the more I will reward you. It is important that you understand this is one of my key factors and the second most important thing to me outside of us all enjoying ourselves and having fun. I expect to be writing a lot for this and I expect the same for all of my party members. Character progression and story will always be more important to me than fighting . That's just the way it is for me. I can understand that its not the same for everyone, but if combat is what you want, I would suggest you pick a different GM. I tend to keep my combats short and brutal unless of course you are on a protracted war effort but that's a different story. With that in mind, what I'd like to see is that along with your character sheets, I'd like for everyone to eventually give me a 1 to 2 page background of their Character along with just a rough outline of the character's aspirations, hatreds, and anything else you believe is important.

III. I will not be holding any restrictions on what classes you can take. I love human characters in Black Crusade and I always love seeing them in the games. So if you want to play a chaos space marine or a human, that's you're choice buddy. However, if the group comes to a consensus that that all wish to be from a particular legion, chapter, army, or what have you, then I can make that restriction and fine tune to game play to be more attuned to that army. (Example: a while back, I GMed a group who played as a squad of Black Legionaries in a weakened and fractured warband who, in time, assassinated their sorcerer lord, claiming the warband for themselves and led their brothers out of the ashes to glory standing at the throne of power in the Screaming Vortex)

IV. This is more of a warning than anything. I make sure that all of my games are very challenging. I don't make it to the point that you can't win but, I like to add that little sense of helplessness and feeling like you're part of something bigger. I think it really helps add to the theme of Black Crusade. The imperium is this massive war machine of trillions of soldiers to grind away and thousands of space Marines across the galaxy. You are but heretics merely trying to survive. It is from this strife and turmoil that you may very well rise from the ashes and lead a black crusade into real space. When that time comes I believe the feeling of accomplishment will be worth all the ass whoopings.

V. I'm looking for these games to run games on Friday Nights at about 6 or 7 pm Central Standard Time . Games will generally run around 3 to 4 hours in length and will be done on a weekly basis though I may move it to bi-weekly if necessary. This is important that you understand what the times are and that I have an expectation that each of you will commit to this. I have seen far too many perfectly good gaming groups online fall apart because of a lack of commitment. Please respect my time and everyone else's. I understand that we all have lives and things we need to do, but if you're signing up, I expect you to be able to make it 80% of the time.

So I think that covers about everything, really. So, if you would be so kind as to post on here to show your interest if you are available and maybe also say what kind of character you'd like to play, that would be great. Equally, you can feel free to message me or add me on Skype. Just look up Alexander Leleux (or noctuscornix) and you should probably find me without much trouble.

I am interested.... I will most likely play a Renegade Sniper kind of character.. because yes that is an amazing idea.

My Skype is Sinpoder666, so accept my request if and when you get it.

Welcome aboard, good sir. I'll send you an invite on Skype.

That's one down. I'd like to atleast have somewhere around 4-6 players, so I'd like for atleast another three people.

Ach, this sounds awesome, and I wish you all the best, but it's far too late in the evenings for me, being Swedish and GMing my own game on Tuesdays already.

I wish you all the best and here's to the players not derailing the plots five minutes in!

I'm interested also

I could play at 6 your time on Friday most of the time

Would probably play a Nurgle space marine from the crusade although I'm flexible

I am also in an only war game at the moment but I don't thing the times will be a problem

I will private message you with my Skype info if you want me in the group

But of course, welcome aboard good sir. Feel free to send me your contact information.

I'm definetly interested.

I like roleplaying, not rollplaying approach and putting stoty to the front.

My skype is in my profile, I'll send you character details soon if you're counting me in.

Invite sent on Skype, sir.

I'm definitely interested in this, I've never played Black Crusade but I have skimmed over the rules. I have experience playing Deathwatch so I know the system.

I might join once I get my own laptop which should happen soon.

You do have a copy of the rulebook though, yes?

I have the core rulebook, and all 4 supplements (Physical copies if that matters at all. I figure no.) and would be very interested in joining. I have expereince with Black Crusade, but not as much with some other 40k RPG's, and I LOVE the setting (Betrayal is a fun concept to me, when appropriatly timed, and not unfun.)

The time works great for me, and if you will have me, I will make a character up. If you are overly booked with players, well, best of luck.
