Blasphemers!
[SPOILERS]: Star Wars: Rebels - Thoughts?
As a big fan of (American) football I have to step in here to say at least football has original gaming concepts when compared to all of those other sports which are simply a variation of moving an object back and forth across a field and putting into a goal or not (basketball, hockey, soccer). For a comparison, American football or baseball is FFG Narrative versus Baskethocker being various d20 games.
(Pssst...no one tell Sturn that professional foobah is just as scripted and pre-determined as professional wrestling. ?)
American football came from Rugby. Both games have similar if not the same objectives.

Yeah, but instead of playing a real man's sport ("Dislocated your shoulder during that last scrum? Suck it up, mate!") they decided to be wussie babies and cover themselves in pads and helmets and armor.

Was that big open space above your text caused by you not being able to use your hands or was it yet another fake flopping onto your keyboard?
Yes I know the Americans took Rugby and with our usual ingenuity added another level of complexity to it since, well, we have hands and know how to throw things?*
*I'm being sporting (KC) and giving you an opening for an obvious spoiled American temper tantrum joke.
Edited by SturnNot being a big sports aficionado myself, I'm fond of hurling.
Because nothing says sanity like playing a game where a dozen or so other players are swinging wooden sticks at head-height in close vicinity.
Americans took Rugby and made it commercial friendly . I do like the Sporting KC reference and I hate that team and thier fans. Only good thing about them is there stadium!

Back on topic, has anyone tried to translate the Mando'a text in the latest episode?

Thus the Mandalorian wars in the Old Republic.

Was that the one with Darth Maul? I know that the Mando'a writing on his wall said 'Kenobi'.

The newest episode, Legacy of Mandalore has what appears to be Mando'a text that appears behind the hologram of Gar Saxon, it's clearly visible for a few seconds before the perspective zooms out a bit.
As all Mandalorians are genetically human, I have no problem with Jango and Boba identifying themselves as Madalorians even if they weren't born on Mandalore. It's a cultural thing, not a genetic one. And, as we don't have much in the way of new canon to fill out Jango's history I'm still going to use the old canon until they come up with something different for the new canon. I've always liked the idea of the clone troopers being Mandalorians and what kind of ramifications that has on Mandalorian culture as they start mustering out of the Stormtrooper Corps following the rise of the empire.
Back to the topic of rebels though, I really enjoyed this last episode. I wasn't entirely thrilled with the direction they went with Mandalorians in The Clone Wars, so this episode was somewhat refreshing.

Hmm, Satine had a whole mandalorian movement to support this idea ;-)
BTW, I do find it rather refreshing to have this pacifist movement in mandalorian society after some wars nearly destroyed them completely. It imho somewhat mirrors for example developments the end of the samurai or ww2 or the de-Nazification of the german culture after the war. "Never again war" is a catchphrase which becomes popular after every great and devastating war, just to become forgotten a generations or two later.
Interesting - the override code Thrawn uses to shutdown his sentry droids is "Rukh", the name of the Noghri bodyguard who ultimately assassinated Thrawn. Clever mythology gag, there boys.
Thrawn *must* have realized that the map got changed, right?

Yeah, I wonder if this is foreshadowing for something.
Actually I reallly hope that Thrawn won't die at the end of this season, but rather gets a "promotion" for his failure/victory and sent away on some thankless job. I want this guy to return and pester the rebellion again in the future. But we'll see.

Oh most definite!

Imagine the fan outcry if Thrawn got stabbed in the chest by a reprogrammed assassin droid at the end of the season.

Fun episode. I liked some of the technical details, in addition to the officer's code cylinders:
"We can't get the clearance codes from any port, we'll have to find an officer's port."

I can only hope. Thrawn fans are only more tolerable than Fandalorians because the source material is slightly better.
Thrawn is a decent enemy, but the last thing I want to see is some never-ending Tom-and-Jerry between the rebels and some sub-villain. So far they've been very clever about how the rebels have gotten away, and each time the rebels have given something up...now more than ever. But it needs to come to some resolution.

That made me immediately think of the game, too. Makes slicing a bit more interesting if there are different classes of data ports.
I found the episode quite interesting, I enjoyed all the references to the books.
Also Imperial security isn't as bad as some episodes would have you think

They don't need to kill Thrawn to write him out, they can relocate him to another part of the galaxy, even to wild space/unknown regions. I'd be very disappointed if they kill him off after one season, maybe not one and half seasons or so. I don't know if he's going to appear in enough episodes this season for it to feel like it's the right time for that kind of a conclusion.
I am looking forward to the appearance of the TIE Defender, I wonder which episode it's going to show up in.
Never read the books. Canon Thrawn is pretty cool. I actually expected him to either have perfect recall or a backup map to show what planet was replaced.

I'm sure he won't be killed off. Never mind the fans, the galaxy has room for plenty of stories with him in it, and Filoni and crew aren't known for wasting a good character. Who knows, maybe he lasted until the battle of Jakku...we know Jar-jar did...
