I could see that last episode being the crew having to save and deliver a certain Bothian (sp?) with vital information to the Rebellion...
[SPOILERS]: Star Wars: Rebels - Thoughts?
I'm hoping that Rebels ends with the battle mentioned in the opening scrawl of ANH personally, and that it it involves small rebel fleet rather then just being a fighter raid like in the EU.

Why not both?
Out there is full of super hero tv series aimed for "adult" people. Could not they do something similar for SW?
Those shows are aimed at tweens and teens. SW has always been aimed at the same target demographic.
Holy crap - I was just doing some reading over on IMDB about Fist of the North Star because one of the voice actors was really familiear sounding - and I found out that Zeb was voiced by this guy:
(Link for Haley - it's Spike Spegal from Cowboy Bebop )
Mind you, looking over Steven Blum' s resume, I'm not shocked - but it's kind of cool that one of the voices behind one of the best dubs in anime is on Rebels.

I like http://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/ for looking up the voice actors. Provides a more concise list of who voiced whom.
For example:

vs
http://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/Harry-Shearer/
Same actor/voice talent, but BtVA actually lists each character.

If you are refering to a Bothan spy who supplied some plans, you're skipping a Death Star.
I'm very happy the Disney buy out has tossed the multitude of Death Star 1 raids and hopefully we will be left again with one sensible raid at the end of Rebels. The New Alliance Space Academy probably offered a 3 credit course in an attempt to explain the relation of all of the different Death Star 1 plan raids.
Hmm, looks like "there is another" might mean Ezra:

We'll have to see how it's handled, my first thoughts are "Nooooooooo!"
I think it would be foolish to expect that they would not use established characters in one form or another. Hence why we've seen Vader, Obi-Wan and the droids in one form or another. They tie the series to the Star Wars that so many know. As long as they keep it minimal and focus on the series' characters I'll be fine with it and even enjoy the small touches.

Honestly the multiple Death Star plan raids never really bothered me. I could easily see different parts of a project like the Death Star being designed at different locations so raiding such a research outpost would only get the plans related to what was being designed at that location. In fact the only places I would have the full plans in one place if I were running the Empire would be Imperial military HQ, the emperor's private files, Tarkin's private files, and the Death Star Construction site. None of those locations are easily accessible to rebels IMO.
And Rebels returns (on WatchDisneyXD, will be back on TV next week) with "Path of the Jedi"!
I liked what this episode did, but I do have problems with the execution (mainly with the dialogue in the first part of the episode, before they enter the temple). However, my opinion improved immensely when Yoda began to enter the conversation, proving to be a good solicitor of Kanan and Ezra's personal motivations/doubts.
Also, on a personal note, would've liked to see the construction of Ezra's lightsaber, but I didn't dislike the angle the show went with, showing how everyone in the Ghost "family" contributed to its creation.

Edit: had a chance to see the new episode...
enjoyed the episode with Yoda interacting with both Kanan and Ezra. Also the Inquisitor let slip that Kanan has another name which, if you've read A New Dawn, you would know. As for Ezra's lightsaber construction, it would have had to be a montage that, imo, would have been too long for the episode. Zeb did say it took Ezra weeks to make it so I think the writers handled it well. Lastly, I love the sound of Ezra's saber when it's activated. Not the usual snap hiss but a growl like a wild animal.
Tonight's episode was pretty great. It also gave a pretty good blueprint for how some pretty cool stuff can be done with a Force Sensitive PC.
Just watched season six of Clone Wars and the Rebels 'Spark of Rebellion'. While I enjoyed much of Clones and it had some great moments one of the things that really annoyed me was needlesly messing up the continuity (Mandalorians had an interesting culture and history, now they are just crap). Sadly this has continued into Rebels with their depiction of Kessel as the OP pointed out. There was no reason they could not of shown it as described in the EU it is just plain lazyness.
By the end of season 6 of Clones the animation was fantastic, there were scenes with Yoda where it actually looked like a moving Frank McQuarrie painting, it was beautiful. Seeing as Filoni (and others I would think) are also doing Rebels I was expecting it to pick up where Clones left of but unfortunately it looks more like early episodes of Clones than later ones. Several of the characters look less than great (whats with all the male human noses?!) and the Wookies just look plain awful.
Storm Troopers are the elite of the Empire used for important missions yet in Rebels they are incompetent fools used for the most menial of tasks, where are the regular Imperial soldiers? All the non-named Imperial characters are the exact same character and all are petty, mean and stupid.
That is not to say that the episode was bad, it was enjoyable and I look forward to the season one DVD, most of the problems are ones carried over from Clones so suppose I was expecting them. Except for the quality animation itself, that was terrible.
As for the animation. The crew is using a different style, different color scheme, and from what I hear, has a more restrictive budget.
Good new episode, Path of the Jedi. They are finally starting to include some environmental effects. The temple was obviously in a polar region of Lothal, the snow, the aurora, and the frosty breath were welcome additions.
I am curious about the "Master's whose padawans didn't return" thing... Just seems a little extreme..
I wonder if it's a real thing or more of a prop to spook the nubs.
I'd say "real". It wouldn't be very Jedi-like to use fear to motivate, especially not fake fear. It's not that fear isn't part of the test, but what there is is simply one's own fear reflected back.

My money is on real. Firstly, deceit about training doesn't seem a very Jedi thing to do. Secondly, the Jedi are not "good" per se - I can see them being extreme. Remember that they're essentially a cult that takes children away from their parents very young and trains them to be religious warriors. It also doesn't have to be a universal thing just because one temple does it.
And finally, it's also an excellent way to motivate good teaching, no?

Well, if the temple requires both Padawan and Master to enter, then it's not much of a stretch to say that it'd take both Padawan and Master in order to exit. So if the Padawan fails, then the Master is stuck. With the discovery of the caves on Ilum, outlying temples like the one on Lothal probably simply feel into the category of "historical footnote" where the Jedi Order was concerned as there were "testing sites" that didn't pose quite as severe a hazard to master and apprentice.
My vote is that it is indeed the real thing, particularly as it'd be a lesson to the master as well about how "there is no death, there is the Force." Though I suspect most masters waited until they were fairly certain of their Padawan's chance of success before taking them there, if only to hedge their bets a little
So you think maybe the Lothal temple... testing ground... giant turd building... thing... was no longer in active use (relatively speaking) compared to a more recent site?
Plausable. I suppose it does bring up a lot of interesting questions and concepts as well. Have we heard about agri-corps and such in the new canon? Is it possible that the "new" Jedi order doesn't deal with wash outs? Either you overcome your fears... or you die? If the Jedi are really that concerned about the Darkside I suppose the same guys that decided Jedi couldn't have girlfriends for "darkside" reasons might also be extreme enough to feel a dead padawan was better then a living sith...
I'm probably totally overthinking it, but it's still fun to roll that ball around.....
The Jedi order is broken, but man - that whole thrive or die thing would be more suited to the Sith. Mind you, that could be an indicator just HOW broken the order is.
. . . . oh man - I just remembered something I wrote up ages go for a game that went nowhere. I have to see if I still have it . . . . . .
**EDIT**
Edited by DesslokGhostofman,
I'm guessing that the Lothal temple was indeed "out of active use." At least in Legends, the active sites like the Ilum temple/mines were under active Imperial guard.
There's also the matter, as far as Legends goes, that the Jedi Order wasn't always the homogenous organization we saw in the films, so it's quite likely there were sub-factions within older iterations of the Order that were a bit more "hardcore" than others in their views of the Force and training. For all we know, the Lothal Temple was a testing ground used by a splinter group that wound up going dark hundreds if not thousands of years prior to the time frame of the show. Or it could be that the masters of that sub-faction felt that if the apprentice failed/perished during that particularly trial, then it meant they also failed and thus shouldn't pass on their flawed understanding of the Force.
As for the Jedi Service Corps, those are still in the Legends category, so in the current canon there's no place for apprentices who don't quite wash out but don't have what it takes to become a Jedi Knight.
It appears we'll get to see Lando in the next episode. I wonder if we get to see his little maneuver in the Battle of Taanab.
GM: So, roll your computers!
Kanan's player: Success! I get the transponder masker on. . . but I got a despair.
GM: You get the transponder on just in time for the Star Destroyer not to notice you. . . until the Pig inflates, knocking zeb into the console turning off the transponder during the middle of their scan.
Kanan's player: Oh. . . . darn.
Yeah, we've ALL been there. . . .
