Tie advanced fix:

Avenger title

Tie advanced only

2 pt

Increase shields by 3 and add Cannon upgrade slot.

This would make it b-wing-esque in its ability.

Haha fun

Rolled Crit, Focus, blank, spent a token to change the focus to a Hit. Roll your defense.

Sooo 2 points for a bump in shields by 3?!?! Yeah, that's not happening. Cannon slot? Maybe, but not both for only 2 points..

Avenger was pure dogfighter, we have the Defender for the B-Wing equivalent, so I would make it more like an Interceptor.

Avenger has the same lasers as the Interceptor and Defender, so thematically the cannon upgrade doesn't fit.

For 2 points it feels a little to much. That's 12 points of shield upgrades. Also the Avenger had twice the X-wings worth of shields so I don't see FFG giving it more than three.

Avenger was as or slightly more maneuverable than a Interceptor so maybe work a booster maneuver into the card?

So it would be several points cheaper than a defender, yet have two extra shields, the evade action, and arguably (except for the kturn) a better dial?? Only negative is one less attack then the defender, but that doesn't make up the difference.

Uh... the TIE Avenger is related to the TIE Advanced, but they are completely different craft. It's like saying a title for the Z-95 makes it an X-Wing.

No. The X1 is going to need something specifically for it to make it work. Maybe with the title it can perform a free barrel roll or boost action at the end of the activation phase? Would help the mobility at least... maybe edging in to Interceptor territory as a tankier craft.

It just... needs something. It's too pricey.

I'm wondering if the Star Viper isn't going to be closest to what many people think the Advanced should have been. Either that or the Interceptor loaded with Hull and Shield upgrades.

not much of an imp player but would like to see them show some love for the tie advance, since as a kid i did own with Darth Vader :P

The defender is no b-wing equivalent it's faster more agile and can't carry torps.

Our b-wing would be the gunboat slow but heavily shielded it could carry alot of ordinance and has a cannon slot.

Not possible, for this reason: the agility. The B-wing is 22 points naked for 3 hull, 5 shield, and ONE agility. ANY weapon, particularly a cannon upgrade, is more valuable behind lots of hitpoints AND is more valuable behind lots of agility. Protecting it behind both is pretty severe. For example, MajorJuggler, the resident king of the MathWing here on the forums, has said that the statline for the upcoming IG-2000 makes it the most durable naked ship in the game, based on stats alone. Its statline is 3/3/4/4. 3 Attack protected by 8 hitpoints protected by 3 agility. This makes it MORE durable than a naked Falcon, which is 13 HP and 1 agility, the Firespray, which is 10 HP/3 agility, and the Decimator, which is 16 HP and zero agility. Things will change situationally, obviously, as this represents an average. However, your proposed fix makes it on par with the most durable ship in the game, which (while being a large base) costs 36 points.

Heck. No. That's ridiculous. 3 shields AND a cannon slot. A Cannon. Really? Nonononono. That's crazy. A shield upgrade already costs 4 points. You're putting 3 shield upgrades and a cannon slot on this thing.

No. That is just plain terrible design.

How to really fix the TIE advanced: remove all non-Vader pilots so people stop getting confused and thinking that you're supposed to use those cards instead of tossing them straight into the trash. Apologize for making the cards obsolete by printing Maarek Stele in a TIE defender.

It's pretty much an advanced with pointy wings. I dislike it personally. I see it as an advanced title and people just having to deal with it or as a last ditch effort to add new content when things really start scraping the bottom and they decide to go with silly beam weapons.

I hope the advanced just gets x1-7 unique titles and we call it good with new pilots and cards that indirectly improve it (like proton rockets)

I was just theorizing about this - I think it's possible that we'll get a Tie Avenger title or modification for the Tie Advanced that is relatively cheap (1 or 2 points) and simply adds one attack die (to match the four laser cannons on the Avenger, like the armament of the Interceptor).

I would also argue that it makes a lot of sense, since the Avenger was generally considered a nickname for various iterations of the Advanced line, just like the Advanced x1 is Vader's personal version of the Advanced Tie. It makes a similar kind of sense to me as the Royal Guard Tie or Prototype Veteran.

No, it isn't. I imagine it'll be a nice option to sit between the TIE Defender and the TIE Interceptor with regard to mobility and survivability. It'll be probably costed similar to the Advanced except it has a lot more bang for the buck, and probably at the expense of robustness. I'll be happy if it can keep up with an Interceptor in a drag race and run circles around an X-Wing. Let's see the "non-pointy" Advanced do that.
