Rebel Aces Mission Question? Fluff of how they Jump start the Escape Pod

By eagletsi111, in X-Wing

So I finally got my rebel aces yesterday, it was after our store game. It was in the mail box when I got home.

I'm reading through it and her is what it says:

Jump-starting the Engines on the escape pod: At the end of any activation phase, the rebel player may choose two of his ships, that are within range 1-2 of each other. If they can draw a line between those two ship and the escape pod, he may assign 2 tracking tokens to the escape pod.

So what is happening here: Fluff Wise?

Are the ship shooting jumper cables to the Escape Pod? I curious to see what others can come up with to explain this?

Thanks,

Hmmmmm. Maybe it's like a push start. They shoot grapple cables out and tow it along. Space Science!

Using static energy to shock the pod maybe? Tesla would be proud.

Just wondering, Because it gains tokens and even if the ships fly away it can still use it to move.

Wireless energy transfer in a jury rigged system.

The Force

Kicking it.

Electromagnetic induction powers a short lived capacitor based engine in the pod. (sort of like the torchlight you can shake)

Probably jury-rigged wireless induction. The rebel fighters are equipped with magnetic field projectors set up to induce electric fields in the pod's power systems.

That or those two ships are flown by Jedi or something.

Space Science!

Based on the assignment of "tracking" tokens, I kind of interpreted it as some kind of LOS radar where the pod only gets to move when the pilots can "see it" and know where it's heading. After two tracking tokens are used up, they lose sight of it again against the backdrop of space until they can get it back within the radar line.

They could always just get out and push...

So is it like Schrödinger's escape pod? The rebels dont know if its moving until they look?

Interesting. So no one really has any idea how it works. If it is wireless induction. Do all rebel fighter have this magnetic field device?

Still very interesting. The fact that FFG didn't even explain it means, they don't know either.

Well, the escape pod wouldn't be stopped in the first place, unless it 'unlatched' rather than 'projected' from a ship while the ship was at a standstill. Who am I to nitpick the rest?

Almost certainly not I'd say, more likely jury rigged for the mission.

It's the same technology that allows the prototype ship in the Imperial Aces mission to pick up instant upgrades when passing near asteroids.
