Why was this necro'd? What could possibly be gained from reading this a second time? Also, I'm kinda stoked that I don't have to read gadge automatically applying his experiences at GW to anything anyone says anymore. I'm sorry but that got hella old.
Destroyed my defender
What a hate-filled thread, wow...

Applying knowledge of the financial realities of replacements at a miniatures company to the financial realities of replacements another miniatures company is hardly a stretch. Of all the idiocy in this thread to choose from I'm surprised you'd go for one of the few fairly sensible posts.
Honestly if you cant afford to replace a $15 item you need to rethink your finances, involvement in the hobby etc etc
Go home. No one wants your *****, holier-than-thou advice.
Wow....necroed from 2014! I started getting LIKES for some thread I didn't remember at all until I came to see what it was. I love the DERPFENDER, though.
This is what happens in the community when FFG doesn't release news every single week lol
(not that they should have to...)
This thread got necroed cause someone linked to it from how to murder a defender.
But now that ut was resurrected:
+1 because its flight is now erratic making it harder to track. So it's Agility value is, what, -1 now?
It has +1 Agi, -1 att, and the ruthlessness effect is permanently attached to this ship.

Look at the date. He's probably gone home about 700 times since then.

Sorry, someone linked it in another thread so I thought it was recent.

I find thou guilty of threadromancy.

It was done for the poor suckers like me that haven't been around that long and missed this the first time. I was at a fast food joint waiting on my food and the checkout girl wouldn't stop staring because I'm laughing uncontrollably at the pictures of that crazy looking ship. Definitely glad it got necro'd
Oh my god man, I'd give it a modified dial! Remove all the right turns, all banks to the right are red, no K-turns, add a left S-loop and left Talon roll. Oh, and if it goes faster than speed 3, roll a red die. On a critical, draw two damage cards, face up.
Car - 1
Defender - 0
I give you -
THE DERPFENDER!

I think it came out rather well.
Nobody can say it doesn't have character. If and when this thing finally falls apart, ill send a letter to FFG. They gotta hook me up after seeing what a great job I did in trying to retain my model. I'm clearly not taking anybody for a ride here, in fact I don't think it would even be possible to ride in this - even given the elastic conception of physics used in Star Wars.
Just imagine how bad it's gonna feel losing to this thing.
I would just cut the other two supports for the wings, and have a "micro-fender", and be done with it.
since we're on the necro bandwagon I'd warp those deflectors into tentacles so it can have 6 dangly bits.
Is the dude who had this happen still around? Taking that proud little abomination to tournaments?

Not going after his post, just the four thousand like it. It's tough to stay open minded about someone who ONLY posted about how he was a GW employee, and how every single topic is essentially just like this one time at GW.

You are 100% correct. When you knock the mirror off your car does the dealership pay to replace it? When you drop your tablet and shatter the screen does apple/samsung/whoever pay to replace it? Why should ffg pay to replace something you broke?

But tbh he was probably right... Having worked at GW, those replacements cost the company a pitance, the customer service already has to exist, and it's totally worth it for the good will you get.
I have heard nothing but good stuff about FFG, and a large part of it comes from their customer service department. And it doesn't really increase your costs, because happy people buy more, the more a company sells the lower the unit cost to them is.

Those things have warranties.
Warranties that have probably expired since that post
.

Are you married? Kids?
There are a lot of things in X-wing to buy. I've alreay spent a couple hundred dollars on this game and I'm sure to spend a few more. Still, I need to be as frugal as I can with my hobby spending. I'm not poor, but I'm a family man. Family spending trumps everything. While I can afford to spend another $15 to replace it, it is still the better thing to contact their customer service to see if I can get one or at least purchase the specific part at a reduce price.
I swear, the people that are upset that this guy just wants to ask for replacement is a little off kilter. It's not like he's saying he deserves it or is demanding it.
No offense, but your time should have more value than to deal 30 minutes with the customer service on a worse than 50/50 bet that you get a $15 replacement as a free donation from Asmodee, a company owned to 100% by private equity investment money. It it's cheaper to just buy a new one than the whole process of replacement than you should be better off with just buying a new one.
Still, nothing wrong with trying, I waste tons of time on the forums on less rewarding activities. But the money saved itself is still a bad argument. People simply feel good if a company they like treats them more than fair. Creates bonds to the company which creates more sales. All good business. ;-)
The Asmodee takeover was in 2015.
